Thermal and Fluid Management product lines are led from of the Marston facility which is based in Wolverhampton as part of the Collins Aeropace Power and Controls Strategic Business Unit.

Title: Project Manager

Position summary:

Reporting to Programmes Manager, the Project Manager will manage several projects and teams of major make to print projects and product transfer programmes. The successful candidate will be an expert in the project management process and tools and will have extensive experience in successfully managing multidisciplinary teams in complex project environment, especially within operations, manufacturing and supply chain.

The Project Manager will be accountable for the success of their projects and will integrate efforts between all functions (operations, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, engineering and others as required) to manage risk ensuring the teams delight the customer and stakeholders by meeting cost, schedule and requirement targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of multiple projects including product development running concurrently and within a matrix organization in conjunction with other project managers
  • Accountable for the delivery of all project milestones across, especially manufacture and delivery of hardware to agreed Line of Balance (LOB)
  • Lead several operations based product transfers and re-certification projects
  • Effective management and mitigation of project risk throughout product development and into early production
  • Generate a strong focus on customer relationships whilst motivating team members on delivering internal objectives
  • Creation and maintenance of robust, adequately detailed and resourced project plans to enable progress, track cost and accurately forecast resource requirements
  • Provide regular and effective project performance updates to management including key project metrics such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or LOB’s
  • Manage projects in line with Collins Management System (CMS) including leading effective gate reviews to senior management
  • Pro-actively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks and define mitigation actions
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement activities to drive efficiency and eliminate waste within processes and the organization
  • Promote a culture of high performance, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to improving the programmes team through process and tool development

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education – Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline, a recognised project management qualification is highly desirable
  • Experience – Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering complex manufacturing projects, preferably in the Aerospace industry (heat exchangers)
  • Experience with manufacturing, operations, supply chain and quality process and deliverables
  • Experience of leading the manufacture of complex engineering products within a factory environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing issues and scope changes while bringing projects to successful completion within the cost and time requirements
  • Experience in project financial and resource planning and management, ensuring a complete and accurate view is available on request
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to convey effective direction using strong written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent skills in communication and reporting to customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels

This position may involve access to export-controlled information and hardware where an export license would be required for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
