Job Summary

The Manager, Pricing and Optimization, will be focused on maximizing the airline’s revenue by managing and developing the pricing strategy of Porter’s expanding Embraer E195-E2 network. In addition, the position will assist in the development and optimization of pricing practices and procedures to ensure the scalability of the team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 network pricing strategy and oversee key aspects of its implementation.
  • Manage the day to day pricing environment and ensure Porter is always competitive in order to capture all demand opportunities.
  • Manage the implementation of all Embraer E195-E2 network pricing strategies and tactics with respect to the Porter reservation systems, ATPCO, the GDS networks, Managed Travel programs, VIPorter, Porter Escapes, Ad-hoc groups, Staff/industry travel, and other affiliated partners.
  • Actively drive strong coordination between the pricing, inventory optimization and revenue management systems team members.
  • Actively manage pricing’s impact on revenue performance and KPIs based on the use of sales and marketing promotions.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and act on competitors’ pricing and revenue management actions, including web scraping processes, and implement commercially reasonable responses.
  • Monitor market performance to ensure that revenue objectives are achieved and implement appropriate strategies to correct performance shortfalls. Perform analysis, report, and advice on detailed revenue matters across the Embraer E195-E2 network.
  • Assist with the development and optimization of a comprehensive training program for all revenue management staff on day to day pricing management practices as well as adoption of new process from the company’s pricing management system.
  • Motivate and provide strong leadership and mentoring to a team of highly skilled revenue management professionals and specialists.
  • Remain current on leading approaches, practices and technologies in pricing and revenue management, introducing those most relevant to the Porter context.
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in developing, managing, and implementing pricing strategies, ideally in travel/airline industry.
  • Proficiency with analysis and reporting tools (Tableau, Excel, PowerBI, SQL, etc.). Experience with Python/R a plus.
  • Knowledge of ATPCO required required
  • Ability to distill complex information and communicate effectively to the larger audience
  • Creative and innovative, with the capability to think outside of the box.
  • Experienced in the Canadian and U.S.-Canada cross-border airline markets and their associated pricing dynamics an asset.
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports
  • Experience working in a smaller, more hands-on environment that is resource constrained. Not reliant on large corporate teams and resources.
  • An undergraduate degree in business, commerce, industrial engineering/optimization or information systems, and ideally, an M.B.A.
