The opportunity

Could you be our new Ethics and Compliance lawyer? An exciting new role has been created in Leonardo’s UK Corporate Legal Affairs (CLA) team for an experienced solicitor or barrister to make an impact as our lead on all things Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), ethics and compliance.

What you’ll do as our Ethics and Compliance lawyer

• Work with and advise the Corporate Affairs, Legal and Compliance teams on the continuous design improvement and maintenance of our compliance programmes, and specifically management of the Company’s ABC framework;
• Provide legal support across the business on all ABC and ethics matters;
• Work with the Business Compliance team in assessing if a proposed adviser appointment would expose Leonardo UK to legal risk, providing guidance and advising on appropriate risk mitigation measures;
• Support the business product safety/health and safety matters;
• Provide commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice and services to internal stakeholders, particularly our growing Product Compliance and Sustainability functions;
  
  

In connection with the above, you will also

• Advise on interacting with regulators and government bodies, including advising on the requirements of a particular regulator those requirements;
• Actively support the Company’s leadership in preparing and submitting regulatory reports, filings, and disclosures;
• Maintain accurate records and documentation to demonstrate compliance efforts;
• Advise on dealing with regulators and government bodies, including advising on the stipulations of a particular regulator and meeting industry regulatory requirements;
• Monitoring and keeping up to date with legislative changes and relevant case law and being responsible for communicating bespoke and practical advice to colleagues both within the Legal, Corporate Legal Affairs and Compliance teams, and to colleagues generally within the business as applicable;
• Monitoring and keeping up to date with best practice in the area of Ethical Compliance.
  
  

What We Need From You

You really must have

• A strong background in compliance and ethics, including Anti-bribery and Corruption and internal investigations;
• Excellent communication and presentation skills;
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legal and regulatory issues, assess risks, and provide practical solutions that align with business goals;
• Strong drive to support the business and add value to the services the Corporate Legal Affairs team deliver;
  
  

It would be nice if you had

• Experience of Health and Safety matters would be advantageous;
• Familiarity with the defence, aviation, manufacturing, or technology sectors is advantageous but not essential;
• In-house experience beneficial, but not essential;
