Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking an NDT Quality Specialist in Burbank, CA.

Job Summary:

The NDT Quality Specialist sets up and operates nondestructive testing equipment.  Individual must be capable of developing, qualifying, and approving procedures, establishing, and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures, as well as designating the particular NDT methods, techniques, and procedures to be used.

Primary Responsibilities:

Have general familiarity with magnetic and fluorescent penetrant NDT inspection methods, as demonstrated by an ASNT Level II or III Basic Examination or other means.

Training and examining NDT Level I and II personnel for certification in those methods.

Perform process control tests required for performing NDT inspection methods.

Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.

Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.

Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.

Organize and report test results.

Interface daily with the leadership team about work priorities and progress of projects

When required assist in conducting component level product evaluation when a failure analysis indicates non-conforming parts, processes, or workmanship as the cause.

Evaluate new equipment for area of responsibility and process supporting Capital Expenditure Request (CER’s).

Any other assignments given by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Non-destructive Testing (NDT) Level II or Level III Certification
  • Familiarity with NAS410 (Certification and Qualification of Nondestructive Test Personnel) and ASTM-E-1444-16 (Standard Practice for Magnetic Particle Testing)
  • Minimum 4 years inspection experience in an aerospace/automotive (or equivalent) manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to set up and perform inspection on standard machined parts, mechanical and/or electronic assemblies per blueprint, manufacturing outline, Crane A&E specifications, and customer requirements.

Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some college preferred.
  • Must be capable to be certified to NDT Level II Mag-Particle and Penetrant Inspection.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections.

Eligibility Requirement:  This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with AS9100 standards
  • Familiar with AS9102 First Article Requirements
  • IPC-A-610

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE.
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes.
  • Involves handling parts in compliance with Electrostatic Discharge Devices (ESD procedures)

Quality Specialist Level II:  $28.23 - $35.49

Quality Specialist Level III:  $31.03 to $38.75
