Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Manufacturing Technology Manager to join our Howmet Alloy plant in Dover, New Jersey.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Technology Manager will have a broad set of responsibilities that will focus on optimized equipment performance, execution of capital spending plan, coordinating engineering activities, and guiding the Maintenance Team. The individual will work closely with the Manufacturing Leaders in full support of meeting plant performance objectives and financial goals.

Howmet Aerospace’s alloy facility in Dover supplies vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical and a host of other high-technology industrial markets. The plant offers state-of-the- art capabilities for the manufacture of high- temperature remelt stock.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recommend and execute capital equipment projects on-time and within budget.
  • Manage and direct the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance Team members to meet the daily objectives for equipment availability by reducing the amount of unplanned downtime.
  • Execute, monitor, and improve upon current Preventative Maintenance activities.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement and cost savings projects that directly benefit the profitability of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain an effective program for the Engineering and Maintenance Department by setting annual goals /objectives for each team member and completing periodic assessments.
  • Lead projects and support action plans in relation to the upkeep and improvement of all equipment used to transform raw materials into finished goods.
  • Partner with Procurement team and suppliers to manage / maintain control over critical spares and stores inventory.
  • Contribute to and participate in annual planning meetings, quarterly update meetings, and monthly review meetings.
  • Actively support all plant policies and safety programs.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • BS degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 8 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing facility preferably in the investment casting or gas turbine industry; at least 5 years within a leadership capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills that create an engaged employee environment
  • Ability to drive improvement through the implementation of the lean manufacturing principles, six sigma
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Functional knowledge of heavy industrial machinery such as vacuum pumping systems, material handling equipment, hydraulics, motors, etc. is desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of statistics and strong PC skills.
  • Critical thinker that engages with team to overcome complex problems when encountered.
