Job Purpose
As the Head of Ramp & Baggage Services you will be responsible for the smooth operation relating to aircraft turnaround services (aircraft loading & unloading), ensuring that strategic plans and targets set by the Managing Director are delivered to meet set objectives. You will work closely with the Managing Director to achieve sustainable manpower planning, promote a safe working environment and high performance culture to build high-quality operations and achieve profitable business growth.
In This Role, You Will
  • Uphold the highest standards by ensuring policies, governance, and legal guidelines are effectively communicated and adhered to by all stakeholders, protecting our shareholder and brand value
  • Develop and deliver optimal standards of service delivery to all customer airlines and other dnata business units. Ensure that service delivery levels meet or exceed internal objectives as well as targets agreed with airline customers in accordance with individual Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Deliver cost effective services within agreed budget. Monitor and control costs through effective resource management of staff, equipment and facilities. Identify and exploit revenue opportunities. Continually review and adjust expenditure to meet fluctuations in demand to deliver savings against budget and forecasts
  • Develop and maintain own department continuity plans including dnata Crisis Management Plan, Business Continuity Plan and Evacuation Plan. Continual review and adjustment of the plan to accommodate change
  • Ensure staff are trained and equipped with the resources needed to carry out their duties to the minimum requirements of dnata Airport Operations and the customer airlines. Maintain proficiencies through a program of refresher training and audit
  • Ensure that the Resource Allocators work collaboratively with the relevant stakeholders to effectively communicate the rostering plan to the appropriate staff
  • Represent Company as directed as a stakeholder at Changi Airport consultative committees and other external bodies. Develop and promote dnata’s image and brand through both internal and external communications
  • Be responsible for the formulation of departmental plans. Proactively recommend tactical and proactive plans short to medium term (6 months - 2 years) with contingencies aligned to the overall divisional and corporate strategy
  • Develop and implement a plan for human resource needs and succession planning. Create an environment which is engaging and rewarding for staff, supports retention of staff, and is conducive to the growth of a national workforce
  • Drive innovative solutions through team creativity and ensure a collaborative approach with other departments. Utilise Information Technology (IT) hardware and software solutions to provide improved service levels, efficiency gains, and cost savings for the department
  • Control and track the use of outsourced labour to ensure the most efficient and cost effective use of in-sourced / outsourced labour
  • Ensure compliance and consistent operations policies and practices in line to the business needs and other regulatory requirements
  • Accurately diagnose organizational issues relating to manpower, systems, processes and oversee the development and implementation of solutions to these issues
  • Contribute to our community-driven initiative, dnata4good, by personally investing through our Volunteer Day Program, supporting charities and community projects aligned with our charitable pillars and embracing our CSR initiatives
  • Champion dnata's Environment Sustainability Framework, living our commitment to reducing emissions, responsible consumption, and the protection of wildlife and habitats, while promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship within the aviation sector
  • Be a brand ambassador, representing dnata in a professional and brand-aligned manner, reflecting our values and business strategy in public speaking engagements and representational appearances
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
  • Minimum Degree or Diploma from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant industry experience preferably with a ground services provider, airline or airport operator at a management level
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, with creative and lateral thinking
  • Excellent communication in English, both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical ability, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with ability to anticipate future needs
You'll Have An Edge If You Have
  • Knowledge of Airplane Health Management (AHM), IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) standards and regulations.
