Data Privacy Specialist

Responsibilities

As a Data Privacy Specialist at Howmet Aerospace, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our organization adheres to privacy regulations globally. You will support protection of our employee's personal data and help build the strategy and direction of Howmet Aerospace’s data protection activities.

Key activities:

• Track and monitor the growing global laws and regulations related to data privacy
• Recommend changes to the data protection strategy based on changes or conflicts in international laws
• Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and documentation
• Serve as the point of contact for employees for Data Privacy related matters
• As part of supporting Howmet Aerospace’s privacy program
• Maintain comprehensive records of all data processing activities, including the purposes of all processing activities, which must be made public upon request
• Take ownership in deploying privacy training and awareness programs for employees
• Assist in the management of data subject requests (DSRs)
• Review and suggest improvements to data processing agreements
• Manage incident response related to privacy events
  

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues
• Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to present information/complex matters clearly, and concisely
• Ability to work globally across different cultures and time zones coupled with a willingness to travel to Howmet’s worldwide facilities
  
  

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Legal or related field from an accredited university
• CIPP/E certification or working towards it with the intent to certify within first 6 months in role
• Minimum of 3+ years' experience in privacy, law, compliance, or related fields
• Familiarity with EU, UK, and US privacy laws
• Experience working in a highly matrixed organization with demonstrated ability to accomplish measurable goals
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with other country privacy laws such as China, Brazil, and Canada
• Additional privacy and data security certifications such as CIPP/US and/or CIPT (or actively working towards certification) are considered an asset
  
  

Salary Range: $85k – $110k/year approximation (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
