As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Strategic Buyer in our Havant facilities.

The successful candidate can expect to:

Be responsible for the compliant, cost effective acquisition of materials and services that are within budget to support the contractual service delivery requirements to customers.

Working in the Purchasing Team, the Strategic Buyer is tasked with ensuring Programmes are delivered on Time and On budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Selection and approval in line with Purchasing Strategy.
  • Providing the supplier base with Forecasts, ultimate responsibility for the on time delivery of products within their Commodity Group.
  • Ensuring budgets for projects are met. Engaging in cost reduction, and Supplier Development Programmes.
  • Working with SQA to improve Supplier On Quality Delivery.(OQD)
  • Responsible for delivering a Programme Ready Supply Chain for Repeat Purchase.
  • Ensure that suppliers are in receipt of up to date purchase orders and all subsequent revisions, including Engineering Change Notification and Recording.
  • Work closely with Production Planning to ensure awareness of new customer sales orders and responding to material demands.
  • Working with Programme Management to ensure Awareness of New Programmes
  • Monitor and report on supplier commitments, including the due dates of materials into the organisation
  • Responsible for the Management of supplier on time delivery performance for the allocated Supplier Base.
  • Engaging in Departmental Improvement Projects

What you need to succeed?

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous exposure to a Supply Chain role is essential.
  • Experience of delivering a high quality service in a fast paced procurement environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and able to develop good relationships with people at all levels.
  • Able to multi-task and manage own time effectively.
  • Able to work under pressure and to set deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards all types of work (a positive 'can do' attitude)
  • Experience of using MS Office, MRP systems e.g. SAP, Access or similar

Desirable Criteria:

  • CIPS qualification
  • Exposure to Aviation requirements and standards.
