Leonardo has a wonderful new opportunity for a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) to join the expanding Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) Sector within the Electronic Warfare Line of Business. In this role you will lead and manage a team of Systems and Software engineers to deliver the IMS sectors engineering commitments in collaboration with the Chief Engineer and the Head of Engineering Projects. This includes the identification, development, delivery and support of the technical solution, while professionally developing your team.
This opportunity is based from Luton office, and can benefit from hybrid-working.
What You Will Do As a PM
The typical day to day responsibilities of a PEM include
Create a positive working relationship with customers (both internal and external), to deliver project capability
Leading the Engineering aspects of the Project, ensuring technical quality, schedule and budget
Management of cross-site, multi-disciplined engineering teams, ensuring that roles within the teams are clearly defined
Establish and maintain good lines of communication internally across the Engineering IPT, with the IPT lead, Project Manager, functional heads
Work closely with the Systems Design Authority ensuring they are fully informed on technical progress, technical risk and any mitigation strategies
Ensuring the design solution meets the end user requirement, is reliable, fully documented and works within the its designated environment
Ensure the design solution is compatible with the business area route map
Control project configuration and change management to ensure design reuse is maximised.
Support the management of Suppliers and project Make or Buy decisions
Candidate concept solutions are captured, including the results of any trade off studies and end user engagement
Line management of your team members through mentoring, objective setting and appraisal of their performance.
What We Need From You
You really must have
Experience in engineering management and delivery of projects
Excellent communicator and able to provide clear direction to team members, who could be based on other sites
Ability to manage complex situations with sound judgement and the ability to balance conflicting challenges
Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business process
Ability to produce clear concise engineering plans
Good problem-solving ability.
Good schedule and budget control.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Commercial and business awareness
