Job Description

Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site is looking for a Co-Op Intern to join our Manufacturing Engineering Team based in Mobile, AL.

You will be part of a team of engineers to work on standard line balancing, manufacturing engineering and industrial means support in different areas of the final assembly line and the customer line.

Meet the Team: Working in our manufacturing engineering department, it’s our mission to support Airbus’s FOTs and deliveries to the customer. Our team works cross-departmentally as well as with our counterparts at other Airbus entities to ensure that we are resolving any technical issues on all aspects to build an aircraft in the final assembly line and the customer line.

Your Working Environment

In Mobile, AL on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Program Highlights: Participation in the Spring 2025 semester (Jan - May) Co-Op rotational programs with the school's engineering department. This role will rotate alternating semesters for a total of three times (Spring 2025, Fall 2025, and Summer 2026). Co-Op project focused on supporting our Ramp-up challenges:

  • Help the team in preparing our Final Assembly Line for further expansion and growth with new hangars, industrial improvements, and or other Ramp-up projects
  • You will have a dedicated project mentor

Your Challenges

Technical points: 85%

  • Assist in the preparation and resolution of technical issues, etc.
  • Create/maintain technical documents to support business improvements, etc.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Create/maintain the standard line balancing for optimum performance
  • Contribute to time studies

Compliance: 10%

  • Monthly reports, as needed

Employee Event Planning: 5%

  • Assist Management with different meetings and/or events

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass

  • REQUIRED: HS Diploma/GED and enrolled in an Engineering Program
  • PREFERRED: Seeking degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • PREFERRED: Candidates in Junior or Senior year that can complete full rotation
  • REQUIRED: Ability to work onsite in Mobile, AL for duration of Co-Op rotation starting in Spring 2025 semester
  • Good analytics and technical skills
  • Skilled in the use of computer/programs to include Microsoft/Google Suite of products
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written form with internal and external customers. Must be well organized and have good time management skills
  • REQUIRED: Ability to work in the US without current or future need for sponsorship/work authorization
