Role And Responsibilities

The Deputy Head of Training is responsible for supervising the delivery of local and global training activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and other national aviation authority and customer obligations and expectations and will act as the Head of Training in his/her absence.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

OPERATIONS

  • Represent and act on behalf of the Head of Training within the assigned Training Center(s)
  • Responsible for the local delivery of training in accordance with the relevant regulations and as guided by Company policies and procedures and Head of Training
  • Provide effective oversight and proactive management of local Training Center programs
  • Identify and advise the Global Head of Training on emerging issues and opportunities for training program enhancement
  • Coordinate with local Training Center leadership and staff to identify operational needs and liaise with the Head of Training and/or other departments as needed to help satisfy those needs
  • Identify and propagate best practices, assess the impact of proposed changes, and facilitate change within the assigned Training Center(s)
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate operational data to help guide business decisions
  • Advise and assist local Training Center leadership, Training Managers, and program Lead Instructors to keep all aspects of training delivery aligned and ensure quality and standardization

TRAINING AND STANDARDS

  • Monitor, review, and act upon applicable regulatory, customer, and other external guidance related to training program content and delivery
  • Facilitate and assist in the implementation of global standardization policies across local programs
  • Monitor the quality of training delivery and take or direct action to correct any existing or potential discrepancies or deficiencies
  • Coordinate with the Standards, Quality and Regulatory departments to assist in maintaining local alignment with the Global CAE Network
  • Manage and resolve internal and external conflict by providing solutions to reported training discrepancies or other issues pertaining to quality, policies and procedures, and customer relations
  • Recommend remedial training action plans for clients not meeting expected standards of performance
  • Monitor and verify the use of TCOM and other resources to ensure proper delivery of customer training
  • Provide guidance and assistance in the development and implementation of new training programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Training

CUSTOMER RELATIONS

  • Review and follow up on customer satisfaction surveys other feedback and, when required, act to ensure that local training delivery meets or exceeds customer and client expectations
  • Develop, nurture, and maintain close relationships with key customers and clients
  • Maintain a concentrated customer/client orientation, often under adverse circumstances

Education & Experience

  • Hold or have held a professional pilot license or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of previous Instructor, preferably in a Part 142 or ATO environment, with Examiner experience, or equivalent experience
  • Training and/or operations management experience in aviation-related business acceptable to regulatory authorities.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Have working knowledge of applicable national aviation authority organization(s) and regulations
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Possess above average verbal and written communication abilities
  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills and internet applications
  • Ability to focus and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be readily accepting of change and able to adjust accordingly
  • Ability to make decisions and solve complex problems unsupervised within scope of responsibility
  • Complex and non-routine technical/non-technical tasks
  • High level of influence on internal customers (leadership and staff) and client training operations
  • Moderate level of influence on customers’ training provider decisions
  • Multiple degrees of matrix interaction required with Sales, Customer Service, Scheduling, Engineering, Technical, Human Resources, Regulatory Affairs/Compliance, and Quality department
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to creatively approach problems to find workable solutions
  • Maintains strong focus on quality with a continuous drive towards process improvement and customer/client satisfaction
  • Builds trust and a cooperative spirit across departments
  • Commands respect from contemporaries and supervisors
  • Demonstrates maturity and courage to impose and enforce standards as outlined by the Company
  • Demonstrates cost efficiency skills while aiming to provide customers and clients with a Best-in-Class training experience

Location

  • Preference for candidate to live near a CAE Training Center
  • Travel up to 25% is likely

Working conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand use of phone, technical devices, i.e., Microsoft Teams calls. for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to pick up 15 lbs. or less
