IT Manager
Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
In consultation with Sector/Senior Plant Leadership, responsible for defining and executing the Howmet, BU, and individual plant IS Strategies within their respective plants. Responsible for ensuring effective use of computer software, hardware, and technology within their facilities.
Job Functions
Translates business requirements into technical and application solutions. Balances the needs of the location with the needs of the BU and global organization. Leads and coordinates change within the location and across the Global IS organization.
Responsible for the development, management, and execution of the IS budget.
Manages IS teams; including staffing decisions, assignment and prioritization of projects and tasks, coaching, training, performance management, and providing input into compensation decisions.
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring IS project activities to achieve goals within defined performance metrics.
Ensures the location IS organizations operate in compliance with all Howmet, BU, and Audit requirements.
Represents the IS Organizations in the development and implementation of policy/practice driven by the greater Howmet IS Organization.
Through collaboration/participation with the IS Lead Team, lead/sponsor projects and initiatives that improve and unify the Howmet Aerospace IS environment and organization.
Manages the local IS operations to ensure the infrastructure, application, and development support meet the requirements, providing a technical advantage to the business.
Supports the implementation of an ERP system, coordinating efforts across departments to ensure a seamless transition, effective utilization, and continuous improvement of the system to meet business needs.
Coordinates between the local IS staff and the manufacturing teams to ensure quick and efficient resolution of issues, adapting strategies for direct and effective communication given the compact team structure.
Manages and prioritizes projects and tasks, making work assignments to the local IS staff in alignment with the needs of the locations, the BU, and the global IS organization. This includes a hands-on approach to overseeing a wide range of responsibilities, with a focus on agility and responsiveness. Prioritizes ERP system enhancements and integration within ongoing projects to maximize operational efficiency and data accuracy.
Assists in new system development and installation, acting as project leader for major systems and serving as a point of contact for corporate-deployed systems, including the ERP system. Adheres to appropriate project management practices/policies as required, with a focus on streamlined execution and clear communication channels.
Leads and fosters a team environment that empowers the individual staff member to contribute, resolve conflict, and build consensus while ensuring business objectives are met, emphasizing a personalized management style to maximize staff potential.
Operates within Howmet IS standards and conventions and applicable Howmet IT standards. Leads the implementation of these standards and processes within the locations as required, tailoring practices to fit the scale and specific needs of the small locations. Includes ensuring the ERP system aligns with these standards for data management and process integration.
Ensures compliance with all guidelines detailed in the IT audit guidelines. Responsible for the on-time completion of all assigned audit testing and action plans, both personally and for the locations, ensuring a rigorous approach to compliance and security. This includes ensuring the ERP system meets compliance standards and security protocols.
Maintains a broad understanding of the business processes within the plants, their key users, and the business systems that support them. Participates in the analysis of the plants’ processes to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, leveraging the ERP system for targeted enhancements and better integration of business processes.
Acts as liaison between IS, location business leadership, BU and Global IS, and IS suppliers on all IS issues and projects, facilitating effective communication and collaboration across different levels of the organization. This role is critical in ensuring that the ERP system's capabilities are fully leveraged and aligned with business goals.
Provides IS operational and infrastructure support for the local facilities, including IT security, backups, networks, workstations, server rooms, and voice communication, ensuring robust and reliable IS services. Oversees the technical support for the ERP system, ensuring its optimal performance and availability.
Performs other duties as assigned, ready to tackle a variety of tasks and challenges inherent to managing IS functions in small locations, including ongoing support and optimization of the ERP system.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma
At least 5 years experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
