MANAGER, ACCOUNTS PAYABLE 

As the company expands its international footprint and provides Starlink (our revolutionary satellite low-latency broadband internet) across the globe, we are seeking a driven and experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead the growing Accounts Payable function. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable Manager is a critical member of the Accounting team who leads the global accounts payable function and plays an impactful and hands-on role in the day-to-day accounting and procure-to-pay operations of SpaceX. The ideal candidate will be an independent, creative, detail-oriented, collaborative problem solver, and leader who is comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, hire, train, and motivate the 10+ individuals who comprise the accounts payable organization
  • Oversee all aspects of the global accounts payable function including vendor relations, vendor master file maintenance, invoice processing, disbursements, and vendor reconciliations
  • Participate in the monthly accounting close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information for SpaceX and its subsidiaries, including the preparation of accounts payable accruals
  • Manage and reconcile the AP-related general ledger accounts (e.g. trade AP, accrued receipts) and identify and resolve variances
  • Establish and implement accounts payable metrics/KPIs to track and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our accounts payable processes and functions
  • Review aging of vendor accounts and resolve vendor issues, including issues that AP Specialists are experiencing with various stakeholders across the SpaceX organization
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Support financial statement audits by preparing audit documentation and working with external financial statement audit teams
  • Lead automation efforts about Accounts Payable invoice processing and payment of domestic and international invoices
  • Develop and maintain AP internal controls and policies, and build scalable processes/workflows that can be applied across an expanding international company
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple teams at SpaceX on internal processes and controls related to the processing of vendor invoices
  • Support ad hoc Accounts Payable and financial data analysis and other ad hoc requests, as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of professional experience in accounts payable and/or general accounting
  • 2+ years of managerial experience overseeing employees

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Prior experience leading an accounts payable organization
  • CPA designation
  • Strong accounts payable and accounting knowledge and an understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong process and control orientation, with experience in implementing process improvements in high-volume processing environments
  • Positive attitude and ability to be flexible to changing priorities, especially in month/quarter/year-end close
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SQL
  • Experience with international and foreign currency invoices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to be a self-starter

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA, and requires being onsite - remote work is not considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:                 

Pay Range:    

Accounts Payable Manager: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
