The International Programs (IP) team’s mission is to collaborate with international governments, industry, and other U.S. Government departments and agencies on space systems development and acquisition. Through close coordination with key U.S. departments and agencies, the IP team brings space systems expertise to develop space cooperation with international partners and commercial entities that enhances the U.S. DoD space architecture's effectiveness and resiliency. As a Systems Engineer, you will provide leadership to a technical team, coordinate with counterpart organizations, management, and customers, to achieve the stated mission.

This position will be primarily 100% on-site located in El Segundo, CA. Occasional hybrid option depending on mission/customer needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead a technical International Program team to develop international space security cooperation partnerships, Foreign Military Sales Cases (FMS) in close coordination with Space Systems Command (SSC) Program Offices and program offices.
  • Facilitate and drive discussions between US stakeholders to design and acquire space systems that are interoperable and complementary to the US DoD space war-fighting capabilities and architecture.
  • Provide technical authority and recommendations to USG customers on identifying and developing international partnerships and agreements including, FMS, to integrate into US DoD space systems architecture
  • Apply technical expertise and leadership skills for allied acquisition efforts to lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and facilitate collaboration across various Aerospace and USG organizations, the SSC programs of record, and allied governments
  • Advise and mentor others regarding directives, policies, and regulations for government international agreements.
  • Develop technical requirements that will be used to build Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposals (RFP) to Industry.

Minimum Requirements

What You Need to be Successful

Project Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in applicable STEM areas.
  • At least 6 years of increasing responsibility and applicable experience in engineering and technical roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to maintain effective working relationships. with contractors, industry professionals, government customers, and technical staff.
  • Ability to work closely with senior government management and guide senior leaders on space systems acquisition, design, or production through engineering presentations, informal discussions, and courses of action decisions.
  • Experience in space systems engineering, acquisition, design, test, and production.
  • Possess initiative, persistence, and ability to self-organize and accomplish work that meets aggressive timelines.
  • Willing to travel domestically/internationally approximately 25%.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Sr. Project Engineer

Same requirements as a Project Engineer noted above, in addition to:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in applicable STEM areas.
  • At least 10 or more years of related, proven technical expertise.
  • Working with or developing SATCOM and space-based missile defense sensing technologies
  • Confirmed acquisition and operational experience with SSC SATCOM, Space Sensing mission, Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Combat Power (CP) mission areas.
  • Foreign Military Sales experience identifying requirements and navigating through the acquisition process.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

Project Engineer or Sr. Project Engineer

  • Masters or PhD degree from an accredited program in applicable STEM areas.
  • Previous acquisition and/or technical experience with U.S. and Allied systems in one or more mission areas, such as MILSATCOM, Launch, Space Domain Awareness, Space Command, and Control, Tactical Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance.
  • Previous experience in space systems architecture development or analysis.
  • Previous experience in working the Arms Export Control Act, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), export control, technology transfer, Foreign Military Sales, and foreign disclosure matters.
  • Previous experience in developing international armaments cooperation partnerships, agreements, and foreign military sales.
  • Previous experience working with allied governments, other U.S. government agencies, academia, and industry.
  • Previous experience with system requirements development and commercial SATCOM efforts.
  • Program office experience preferred.
  • Current/ Active TS/SCI clearance

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
