Collins Avionics is seeking a Value Stream Leader (VSL) in the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Product Line organization. The product VSL leads the Integrated Product Team (IPT) through the life cycle tenets of the Collins Management System for their assigned products; inclusive of pursuit and order capture, design and development, produce to deliver and long-term strategic business plans.

This position will be supporting product lines within the Communication domain.

Primary responsibilities for this position include spearheading strategic planning for assigned product lines, execution of product developments, and promoting cross-business product synergies to support business unit objectives. The product VSL directs all phases of product strategy and development from inception through completion.

Qualified candidates should have a strong background in avionics products and systems and project management with experience leading and managing complex product or system developments. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to apply strategic insight and critical thinking in solving complex problems. Candidates will also balance technical knowledge and business acumen to manage assigned product lines.

This is an on-site role in Melbourne Florida.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Successful candidate will have responsibilities for managing multiple product line solutions (HW and SW) through their life cycle and creating cross-business product synergies to support business objectives.
  • Leads medium to large size programs to ensure adherence to program plans, schedules and budgets for programs under his/her responsibility and recommends appropriate adjustments.
  • Develops product line investment business cases, new business growth strategies and drives annual strategic planning efforts for the business.
  • Identifies product requirements for key program pursuits and development of the product line.
  • Oversees creation of product and solution roadmaps and identifies opportunities to generate product reuse across multiple programs.
  • Identifies and reacts to program problems and recommends solutions, such as allocation of resources and changing contractual specifications, and assists in resolution development for escalated problems.
  • Supervises the appropriate use of all resources allocated to the program to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Supports the negotiation of contracts and contractual changes, including coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, operational budgets, specifications, and financial conditions of contracts to ensure legal compliance and to protect the organization’s interests.
  • Execution responsibilities include cost, schedule, technical performance, risk management, product support, manufacturing, and quality of all assigned product lines.
  • Work with all business units to ensure customer commitments are met or exceeded.
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers for project specifications to ensure successful completion.
  • Leads decision making for the IPTs and applying critical thinking where incomplete data exists.
  • Develops internal and external networks and effectively communicates and motivates a team.
  • Communicates vision to their IPT and stakeholders within and outside of the function, as well as connects how the vision fits within the Aerospace market. Requires ability to communicate with senior executive leadership regarding matters of strategic importance to the organization.
  • Prepares and presents value-stream strategy, progress, and results.
  • Consolidates and presents progress reports at customer, program, or product reviews.
  • Manages multiple supplier relationships in coordination with Subcontracts Management
  • Establishes milestones, develops and owns program plans, schedules and budgets for programs.
  • Establishes cost focused performance targets and directs work to achieve these targets.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strength in interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Experience with hardware and/or software project planning and execution.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Preferred location for this role is in Melbourne, Florida.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
