Swissport Spain is looking for a QHSE Manager for our HQ in Madrid.


In this position you will be responsible for aligning and embedding the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental corporate policies for all stations in Spain to meet all QHSE requirements and obligations, always bearing in mind that local legislation prevails. Together with the stations QHSE specialists you implement the overall policy and observe and maintain the compliancy. With the ultimate goal to obtain sustainable, safe and healthy working environments with a minimum of accidents and environmental issues (zero target).


The position

Based on the global standards for Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Management, which are aligned with international industry standards (e.g.ICAO, IGOM, ISAGO and ISO 9001:2015), you ensure adequate execution within the entire European organization. You proactively support the different departments in creating a climate in which the employees are constantly developing on safety, environmental and quality awareness. You stimulate people to perform better and take own responsibility. The focus is on continuous improvement, and it is your job to motivate and guide people and the organization in this. You will monitor compliance with guidelines and procedures, and you will address the organization where necessary.


As a QHSE Manager you are a driven and experienced manager. Safety, health, environment, and quality are your highest priorities and thanks to your enthusiasm and managerial qualities, you know how to get your team and organization on board. You know how to include all stakeholders in safety awareness. Both with your internal colleagues and external stakeholders (governments, branch organizations, etc.) you know how to build a relationship of trust with quality and safety as a shared factor.


In addition to your daily responsibilities in the field of QHSE, you are also the driving force in the further professionalization of the QHSE organization. You see the possibilities for improvement, initiate optimization plans, make proposals and supervise an adequate implementation. If needed you will develop and implement training programs, provide coaching, expertise and guidance to managers and employees at the local stations. Making everything future-proof and sustainable in the context of the QHSE in accordance with the ambitions of the organization, demanding customers and changing laws and regulations. You are an inspiration to your colleagues, and you know how to consider the different interests and possible resistance that arises towards changes.


In short, a very challenging position for an ambitious and persistent QHSE Manager who, in addition to his daily operational management tasks, is very involved in further optimization of the European QHSE policy’s and wants to make a difference. You can have an important role in the further development of this rapidly growing and changing organization. You are the example and driving force in the field of quality, environment, and safety awareness.



The profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferably in Logistics, Hospitality or Leisure Management Direction supplemented with training and courses specifically for the QSHE topics.
  • + 10 years of practical and strategical experience in QHSE programs in a complex international logistic industry.
  • Labor Health official certification is an asset to be strongly considered.
  • Strong leadership skills and stakeholder experience in a managerial role.
  • Experience in complex international stakeholder management.
  • Driven QHSE Manager, entrepreneurial and focussed on optimisation. You have the ultimate mix of empathy, organizational sensitivity, and sense of urgency.
  • Experienced in sustainable change management projects to create leadership vision.
  • Experience in and knowledge of the leading continuous improvement programs and are familiar with highly structured approaches.
  • You are well able to look at issues from different abstraction levels.
  • It is necessary to have and create vision and being future-oriented.
  • You cope very well with stress, you are decisive, a clear communicator and you are result driven. You dare to take on a challenge.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Willing/Able to travel.
