VivaAerobus is currently searching for an Litigation and Regulatory Director to be based at the corporate headquarters in Mexico City.

This position is responsible for supporting, refining, creating, and maintaining best practice approaches to support and assist the company and the legal team in simultaneously coordinating multiple litigation and settlement cases, including complex litigation, as well as multiple regulatory filings, permits, and compliance obligations. The Legal Director will ensure that the department always operates within the law, provides advice on legal issues, creates an effective guardian of the organization, and facilitates the development of business strategies. The selected candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and limit exposure to risk.

Business acumen, advocacy for people, strategic aptitude, excellent legal judgment, and data analysis skills, along with outstanding stakeholder management, are crucial.

Key responsibilities:

• Advise and direct internal and outside counsel on litigation matters involving regulatory and enforcement proceedings.
• Conduct internal investigations from start to finish.
• Provide clear and concise advice to our partners on legal, compliance, and business issues.
• Advise our senior management and Chief Legal Officer on litigation and regulatory matters.
• Collaborate with a team of junior and experienced lawyers responsible for all litigation, mediation, and settlements in the company, including labor claims.
• Advise and inform internal stakeholders about pending and threatened litigation, including civil, criminal, and administrative litigation, as well as contentious regulatory proceedings.
• Assist with dispute prevention and broader risk management, including providing pre-litigation/pre-investigation advice to internal stakeholders.
• Provide training to various teams within the company on litigation and regulatory developments, policies, and procedures.
• Consistently interpret and apply the Company’s policies.
• Manage relationships with external counsel to ensure their advice is timely, relevant, and aligns with the company’s strategic objectives.
• Collaborate closely with compliance and other legal departments within the team.
• Deal with external parties (regulators, external advisors, politicians, customers).
• Attract, develop, manage, motivate, and enhance team performance.
• Address complex and significant issues spanning legal and related areas.
• Stay up-to-date with all legislative changes.

· Ideal experience / qualifications:

• Proven experience in similar positions in diverse industries, Airline experience will be a plus.
• 7+ years of Legal experience in a business-facing role or an Executive or directive position in legal or a legal firm.
• Strong employee relations experience.
• Litigation and regulatory proceedings, at a national law firm or in-house position.
• Cross-border matters
• Making presentations to senior-level stakeholders
• Working with cross-functional teams.
• English : Advanced proficiency required
