Role Introduction

Reports To: UX/UI Design Manager

The Digital Experience (DEX) team is tasked with defining and driving the future of design in Cathay to ensure that standards of excellence are upheld in all customer experiences. We work closely with business units from the beginning to clarify strategy, conceptualize UX journeys, and create ecosystems to increase cohesiveness and reduce complexity. All the while, we encourage the team to continually push the boundaries and limits of innovation in the best interests of the customer.

DEX is a multi-disciplinary team of Strategists, Designers, Product Managers, Developers, Researchers, and Writers. We are looking for someone who shares our focus in putting the customer first.

Cathay UX/UI Designers are empowered to bring forward the best experiences for the customers. They have keen sensibilities for UX/UI design and can break down complex problems into expertly crafted solutions.

In this role, you will need to identify and validate experience pain points, craft solutions that best address them and continue to evolve and iterate designs. The crafted solutions will be informed by established design principles the design system. Your work will subsequently be integrated as new parameters in the design system for future reference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight across teams and projects
  • Exercise deep knowledge in the processes of Business Case Development with understanding of balancing business needs with user needs
  • Partner with and influence executive, engineering, product managers, UX researchers, privacy, legal, and marketing partners
  • Champion design driven mindset in DEX and beyond
  • Combine creativity with an awareness of the design elements
  • Understand the brand DNA and ideate on inspiring design concepts
  • Build modular designs that can be used by development teams to adapt and implement
  • Drive continued evolution of design frameworks and design systems
  • Deliver on all aspects of UI/UX design, from strategy to execution.
  • Translate user needs, business goals, and technology requirements to drive design decisions
  • Enforce a strong process of validation and testing of ideas before implementing

Requirements

List requirements for the position:

  • 4 years’ & above experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, or User Interface Designer
  • Bachelor's degree in Design / Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in responsive and adaptive design approach
  • Proficiency with mobile and tablet design standards / frameworks (iOS, Android and Windows, MacOS)
  • Strong level of understanding and communication of UX
  • Familiarity with design framework and design thinking concepts
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate design rationale
  • The ability to guide and facilitate design sprints/workshops

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams from strategy, technology, account, and production
  • Perform under the pressure of deadlines
  • The ability to prototype in HTML/CSS, JavaScript is a plus
  • Proficiency in a variety of design and experience tools including but not limited to: Sketch, Figma, Invision, Marvel, Userzoom, Photoshop and Illustrator.
