Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Capital Stakeholder Strategy, this role involves guiding and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies related to capital investments. They collaborate with internal stakeholders to align departmental initiatives with the Pearson LIFT Capital Program objectives. The Associate Director leads a cross functional team, ensuring the Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) across different departments have the necessary resources and information. Additionally, they provide strategic advice on stakeholder feedback, issue management, and communications. Their responsibilities include organizing, facilitating work sessions, leading cross functional meetings, maintaining records, and preparing reports for senior leadership. Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential in this role.

As Associate Director, Capital Investment Program Engagement, you will:


  • Cultivate collaboration with internal stakeholders to maintain an advanced understanding of the Pearson LIFT Capital Program and its alignment with departmental initiatives
  • Skillfully connect Pearson LIFT Capital Program work to ensure timely input from internal and external stakeholders for key decisions impacting delivery
  • Actively disseminate Pearson LIFT Capital Program messages to internal audiences, tailoring content for Senior Leaders, departmental leadership, and employees
  • Lead in managing expectations and fostering positive outcomes with stakeholders, gathering their feedback for project development and execution
  • Work closely with project teams, adjusting strategies based on feedback and project progress
  • Manage stakeholder interactions to minimize negative impact on program delivery
  • Identify challenges and opportunities impacting schedules and budgets within the capital program
  • Lead cross functional teams to address challenges or opportunities recognized to ensure successful implementation of plans of Pearson LIFT Capital Program
  • Provide strategic advice to the Director on stakeholder engagement, feedback related to the Pearson LIFT Capital Program, issue management, and strategic communications
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication among SPOCs, department leaders, and project managers. Mediate conflicts or challenges
  • Continuously assess SPOC effectiveness, provide feedback, and promote improvement. Advise the Director for organizational efficiency
  • Collect and analyze stakeholder input. Inform strategic discussions with the Director and Chief Infrastructure Officer
  • Build, manage, coach and mentor direct reports and contributors including project team members, IT colleagues and peers
  • Coach, mentor and develop individuals and teams to rise to their full potential while providing timely, constructive and consistent feedback and personal development opportunities

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Business, Public Relations, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years in stakeholder engagement, communication, or related roles, preferably in infrastructure or capital project
  • 3+ years of leading the development of comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies
  • 3+ years of leading cross functional teams to ensure effective execution of plans
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Valid G drivers license
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transport Canada Clearance
