Hybrid Role:

This is a hybrid position; you will be required to work at the WestJet Campus in Calgary approximately 2-3 days / week.

Candidates need to be located within Calgary Metropolitan Region.

  • This is a 18-20 months temp position ** Reporting to the Director, Audit & Advisory Services (AAS), the IT Auditor is responsible for performing a detailed evaluation of WestJet Group’s internal controls, business processes and technologies. The position is also responsible for identifying risks and gaps, making recommendations for remediation, and communicating results to management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and execute compliance and operational audits and assessments of technology-related risk areas across the WestJet Group
  • Conduct testing of internal controls (including IT General Controls and Application Controls) over information systems as per Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR)/SOX/CSOX requirements
  • Understand key risk and control relationships and advise management of any risk areas that do not have adequate coverage
  • Analyze data integrity and evaluate security of various systems and infrastructure components such as operating systems and databases.
  • Interpret and report audit findings and make value-add recommendations to management
  • Develop and maintain effective business partner relationships (internal and external)
  • Work closely with management to drive process improvements and implementation of best practices across the WestJet Group
  • Be an active member of the AAS team; willing to brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests, and work collaboratively with other members of the audit team to complete audit assignments.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in information systems, computer science, information security or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience with technology and operations auditing, risk management or technology governance and compliance in either public practice or internal audit settings.
  • Achieved or working towards a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation.
  • Experience in performing IT General Controls and Application Controls testing as part of ICFR/SOX requirements.
  • Experience in performing cybersecurity audits against best practices and frameworks (e.g. NIST).
  • Strong technical knowledge of a range of technologies including ERP systems, databases, operating systems, networks, and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices, internal control principles, regulatory requirements (CSOX/ICFR, PIPEDA, GDPR and PCI) and industry frameworks and standards (NIST, COSO, COBIT etc.).
  • Experience with assessing or preparing System and Organization Control (SOC) attestation reports such as SSAE18 reports.
  • A fast learner, with exceptional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with AuditBoard would be an asset
