Key Responsibilities

The Manager of Media and Training Design will lead a team in the development of a multi-year innovative, engaging learning experiences to support efforts to enhance employee performance & solidify United’s Service Culture within our workforce. Responsible for elevating service culture at all touchpoints within the airport operations, improve training efficiency and consistency across all agent roles and locations, and reduce speed to market utilizing AI, applicable training approaches etc. while ensuring the training fits the need, initiative, and agent persona. This position requires a deep understanding of the aviation industry and a passion for driving continuous improvement in the delivery of exceptional customer services. This role will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our airline, overseeing the creation of compelling and innovative designs that resonate with our stakeholders and frontline employees. This position requires an understanding of brand strategy, a strong design portfolio, and exceptional leadership skills to inspire and mentor a team of designers.

Brand Management

  • Uphold and evolve the visual identity of the airline brand by ensuring that all design work aligns with the brand guidelines and principles
  • Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints

Design Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a creative and collaborative environment that encourages innovative thinking and high-quality design output

Creative Direction

  • Set the creative vision for design projects, ensuring design concepts effectively communicate key messages and resonate with the target audience

Project Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end process of design projects, including briefing, concept development, review cycles, and final delivery
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project objectives and timelines

Visual Content Creation

  • Drive the creation of visual content and collaborate with internal and external collaborators to deliver engaging and impactful visual experiences

Design Strategy Development

  • Contribute to the development of design strategies that elevate the airline's visual communication across various channels and platforms
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to inform design strategies

Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with external design agencies, freelancers, and suppliers as needed, ensuring that their work aligns with the airline's design standards and delivers on project requirements

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all design output meets high standards of creativity, originality, and relevance, while adhering to technical specifications and production requirements

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Proven track record of managing and inspiring a team of designers to deliver exceptional creative work
  • Extensive experience in brand management and the application of brand guidelines in design projects
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools
  • Solid understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and strategies to collaborators
  • Travel up to 30%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
