Key Responsibilities:

The Global Procurement organization at United Airlines is responsible for procuring goods and services and developing/ maintaining relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing total cost and risk to the company while improving levels of quality, service, and technology.

The Senior Buyer – Global Procurement supports United’s Global Procurement team by working directly with key suppliers and distribution partners. This position sources commodities from approved United sources, assists with the setup of new approved sources, participates in the development of sourcing strategies and supply contracts, and implements the “Three bids and a buy” process.

  • Source commodities and implement “three bids and a buy” process
  • For higher complexity categories, negotiate for spot buying, specification compliance, and/or volume discounts
  • Maintain relationships with internal partners and external key account representatives
  • Escalate concerns to Global Procurement leaders as needed
  • Updates price models based on established indices and confirming accuracy of price data
  • Purchase commodities from pre-determined sources and assist with the setup of new approved sources
  • This position is responsible for sourcing hotel meetings and events

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of sourcing processes
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to think analytically
  • Organized, detail-oriented, thorough, and professional
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Basic knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract terms, contingent labor, and/or labor services
  • Experience with Coupa or other Procurement/Spend Management platforms
  • CVENT + Egencia experience
