Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Safety for Quality Assurance, the Manager-Approved Training Organization (ATO) is responsible to act as the Person Responsible for Training (PRT) to maintain WestJet’s training program integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • As PRT, oversee the ATO’s compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulation (CAR) 566 and the WestJet Training Policy Manual;
  • Lead a unionized team of Technical Instructors, managing hiring, performance, professional development, regulatory compliance and maintaining qualifications;
  • Interact with Transport Canada including revisions of the Training Policy Manual, application for new type course development, process inspections and audits;
  • Maintain the ATO’s Quality System to ensure training delivery meets the highest standards, aligning with the TPM requirements, and ensuring Transport Canada-approved training adheres to the approved curriculum;
  • Manage the training records system, examination process control, student attendance control and certificate issuance to ensure compliance with the TPM and CAR 566.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license;
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in the maintenance of aircraft;
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance training, development, and delivery;
  • Familiar with aircraft and/or aircraft systems that may require instruction by the PRT;
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience in a unionized setting is advantageous .
