What you’ll do as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will join the team to lead, develop, and improve the operations manufacturing people, processes, technology and equipment enabling world class production of Leonardo products and continued business growth
> Leader of the manufacturing engineering team, responsible for effective planning and communication of objectives
Managing the interfaces between manufacturing engineering and project requirements
> Supporting the Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Architects
in all aspects of the NPI (New Product Introduction) process from change planning, through DfX (Design for Excellence) strategy, process automation and introduction to the line
to industrialise our products and processes implementing requirements from both design and operations teams considering volume, consistent quality and low cost manufacturing
> Ensuring compliance of the operations solutions against the total requirements including customer requirements; acceptance, legislative, contractual, safety and quality
assessing of Manufacturing Maturity Reviews in conjunction with Industrial Architects, ensuring the Manufacturing Engineering contribution and approval
ensure designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; internally and external vendors / equipment vendors
> Ensuring decision-making information is focused on the companies’ vision and values with excellent collaboration with other stakeholders and accompanying resolution proposals
ensuring production schedules; production labour and material costs are as required and estimating future requirements
generating the input / information required to compliment technology, process and product roadmaps steering functional and operations strategy whilst achieving business / stakeholder buy-in
> Optimising manufacturing efficiency by delivering improvement programmes championing leading edge manufacturing techniques and lean principles
Ability to resolve the most complex product and/or production issues championing close working with supply chain, production and quality teams to ensure targeted system output
> Growing manufacturing engineering knowledge in the organisation
includes recruitment, training, motivating, continuous improvement activities to develop skills and competencies within Manufacturing Engineering to set highest possible standards for quality, efficiency, technical capability, compliance, and promotion of best practice
> Providing Manufacturing Engineering input into product teams and stakeholders
> Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and representing Leonardo externally
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
> Recognised as an expert in operations, operations framework, manufacturing, leadership principles and business processes
> People management & leadership skills; including effective performance and change management skills (change agent)
> Experienced in maturity review at the highest level
> Extensive experience of assessing an life cycle deliverable ensuring results and actions are implemented
> Demonstrated knowledge and experience of all phases of the Product Life Cycle and the associated processes, experienced in design / maturity reviews representing operations at the highest level
> NPI / MRL experience bringing new electro-mechanical products to market
> Expert in influencing and negotiating with others using facts, proposals, data and analysis to support line of reasoning
> Evidence of leadership of capability and process development within
> Manufacturing Engineering and ability to implement change
Ability to communicate (Inc. concepts) at a leadership level in a non-technical influencing way
> Ability to partner effectively with industrial architects, customers and suppliers
> Lead capability and / or process development, demonstrating an ability to implement a change to working practices
