What does the role look like?

In this exciting role, you will provide the link between Quality, CI, Site, Supplier, and interact with all functions.

Leading multi-disciplined teams, this “hands on role” will identify and drive key problem solving projects to eliminate Internal and External escapes on existing product lines. You will support the introduction of new products through effective use of the APQP process and PPAP tools.

Your responsibilities will include providing technical support to reduce the cost of poor quality (CoPQ) and improve First Pass Yields. A key element of your role will be to continually improve quality and productivity for products and processes within your area of responsibility.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Maintaining and sustaining a strong customer and supplier focus and using influencing and negotiation skills to achieve goals
  • Ensure the day-to-day project execution & coordination at the manufacturing site.
  • Implement and drive the tools used to achieve Zero Defects & quality improvement projects (PFMEA, DFMEA, 8D, SPC, MSA, MPR’s, CP etc.)
  • Create, advise, and support the manufacturing processes and engineering documentation, through the application of your technical skills including, but not limited to:
    • Machining, tooling, and metrology
    • Fixtures and Gauges
    • Design For Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
    • Verification of technical drawing and technical reports
    • Other specialist processes, including NDT and development of composite processes
  • Coaching and mentoring others to enable the team to reach their goals including training others in APQP and PPAP core tools
  • Conduct best practice containment actions and drive open issues at the sites to resolution using effective problem-solving tools
  • Develop Zero Defect plan to eliminate defects
  • Drive & improve process capability (Cpk, Ppk)
  • Schedule, support, and conduct reviews with management as required
  • Actively support the EH&S policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements through the management of the risk management process
  • Understand and adhere to company compliance policies including the Code of Ethics to promote and support our culture and compliance expectations

What will you bring to the role?

Essential skills:

  • Excellent Quality tool kit including problem solving tools
  • APQP-PPAP experience including FAI
  • Fantastic stakeholder management skills

Desirable skills:

  • Minimum requirement is HNC/HND (or equivalent) with a bachelor’s degree (preferred but not essential) in a relevant Manufacturing and/ or Quality Engineering discipline.
  • Preferred formal CI qualification (Green or Black belt)
  • Knowledge of Statistical techniques (SPC & MSA) is an advantage.
  • New Part Introduction, project management tools
  • Knowledge of SAP & Tableau would be an advantage but not essential
  • Knowledge of leading, motivating and engaging teams
  • Action and goal orientated

  • Ability to work effectively in a team or alone
  • Comfort in managing, motivating and engaging others effectively
