Key Responsibilities

The Manager - Inventory Performance is responsible for the oversight of the strategic productivity and tactical execution of United Airlines’ aircraft spare part's inventory. The Manager will supervise the accomplishment of tactical inventory execution through active project management, inventory planning, repair management, and procurement processes.

  • Employee and team goal setting and measurement of performance
  • Budget development and adherence for team and higher level supply chain
  • Makes daily strategic adjustments to station inventory levels for Rotable and Expendable inventory assets to support the operation
  • Analyzes and establishes system protection levels that support operations at the least total cost
  • Ensures Allocation/ROP assignments are supervised and adjusted to support service level goals
  • Accountable for life cycle of inventory – inception through final disposition
  • Ensure material is available and visible throughout the system
  • Establish new fleet provisioning plans
  • Monitors, analyzes and reports on performance against plan
  • Drive continuous improvement through the systematic use of tools and techniques
  • Identifies alternatives to OEM Ownership
  • Coordinates repair activities with approved suppliers for timely repair and return of Rotable and Recoverable inventory assets
  • Monitors, analyzes, and maintains strong and productive relationships with external repair suppliers
  • Accountable for ensuring repair operations are completed on-time and within budget
  • Identifies various alternatives for repair options and purchasing additional inventory
  • Handle purchases of incremental inventory
  • Accountable for ensuring purchases are completed on-time and within budget
  • Develops understanding of market availability for surplus inventory
  • Improves operational reliability by minimizing aircraft out of service events, delays, and cancellations related to the unavailability of spare aircraft parts
  • Ensuring engineering projects are efficiently, and timely supported through all inventory needs
  • Development of tactical and strategic plans for Rotable, Expendable, and EA project inventory
  • Evaluates demand sources, supplier capabilities, strength and weaknesses of existing Supply Chain and models
  • Develops inventory requirements, alternatives and makes sound recommendations in support of customer and business plan
  • Provides actionable insight to short- and long-term forecasts for the purposes of budgetary planning and integrated business planning
  • Use analytical dashboards, automated tools, and the airline’s transaction-based computer ERP system (SCEPTRE)

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in Aviation Management, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or relevant leadership experience
  • 5+ years experience in fields of the Supply Chain, Airline or Manufacturing Industry
  • Up to 25% travel and requires valid passport
  • Comprehensive understanding of Supply Chain
  • Management/oversight responsibility of personnel for procurement activities, material requirements planning, supply chain management, and expediting
  • Planning and Management
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self Motivated Engrained Continuous Improvement experience
  • Strong people skills and ability to develop internal and external relationships
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to generate consensus among disparate viewpoints
  • Experience reviewing, amending, and negotiating contracts
  • Financial and budget/expense management
  • Ability to establish and supervise policies and guidelines
  • Ability to work with multiple team functions across various departments within United
  • Experience working with suppliers within an expedited environment.
  • Self-starter with high degree of initiative with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Analytical approach to problem solving, with attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Understanding of SQL or other data query languages
  • Negotiation skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • MBA or other related advanced degree or equivalent experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred
  • Airline, aviation, or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience
  • Experience leading direct reports
  • Formal Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • SAS statistical analysis experience
