Job Summary

As a Flight Operations Safety & QA Investigator at Porter Airlines, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the safety standards of our flight operations. Your primary responsibility will be to investigate and analyze safety-related incidents and occurrences within the flight operations domain. This includes incidents ranging from minor deviations to more serious safety concerns.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in investigations of safety incidents, accidents, or occurrences within the flight operations department
  • Gather and analyze relevant data, interviewing involved personnel, and reconstructing events to determine contributing factors
  • Utilize analytical tools and methodologies to assess safety risks and trends
  • Identify systemic issues or areas for improvement and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance safety
  • Identify areas for improved operational excellence
  • Work closely with various stakeholders within the organization, including flight crews, maintenance personnel, ground operations, and management, to gather information and insights pertinent to safety and quality assurance investigations
  • Maintain detailed records of investigations, findings, and recommendations in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing investigation results and proposed corrective actions
  • Stay abreast of relevant aviation regulations, industry best practices, and safety standards
  • Actively participate in safety-related meetings, forums, and training sessions to enhance personal knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Safety Management System within flight operations
  • Any other duties assigned by the Operations Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, aeronautical science, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience in aviation safety, flight operations, or a related discipline is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically evaluate data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of SMS principles, investigation techniques, and regulatory requirements applicable to aviation safety.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel as well as Adobe
  • Proficient in the Google Suite including Google Drive, Gmail, Meets etc.
  • Excellent communication skills in the English language
  • Able to commute to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Office (CYTZ)
