Job Description
The Industrial Engineer provides technical support to the Manufacturing Business Unit, focusing on areas such as manufacturing, design, development, supply chain, and research and development (R&D). This role involves identifying and leading process optimization efforts, supporting projects to reduce costs and enhance quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practice solutions.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead process optimization efforts to eliminate waste from assembly processes and address business requirements.
- Support Manufacturing Business Unit projects to reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Establish manufacturing methods and manage production schedules to maximize productivity.
- Utilize Industrial Engineering, Lean, and other tools to evaluate existing manufacturing practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct root cause analyses to address process or quality problems and participate in corrective action measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential projects, assess feasibility, and implement solutions.
- Establish and maintain standard labor times for manufacturing processes.
- Document processes using process and value stream mapping techniques.
- Lead and execute process improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
- Design facility layouts to optimize production efficiency.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent technical major.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or manufacturing environment.
- Six Sigma/Lean certification preferred.
- Experience with MRP, Teamcenter Manufacturing, CATIA, and AutoCAD systems desired.
- Knowledge of design/drafting practices, GD&T, and proficiency in reading/understanding mechanical drawings desired.
- Certification in MOST (Maynard Operational Sequence Technique) or ability to achieve certification via company-sponsored education.
- Strong analytical and innovative skills.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work under minimal supervision and multitask.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Knowledge of various manufacturing principles and engineering practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and aircraft equipment or fuel odors.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, sitting, squatting, walking, bending, reaching, or stretching for prolonged periods.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
- Normal auditory, visual, and speech abilities required.
- Capacity to lift, carry, or move items up to 10 lbs. without assistance and up to 50 lbs. with assistance technology.
- Ability to climb stairs to work areas.
