You will be joining the Automation business unit which is focused on providing full range of systems and solutions for the automation of airport baggage handling, mail sorting centers and courier logistics hubs, based on more than 40 years’ experience.

The Role:


We are looking to recruit a Sales Engineer for our office in Dallas (TX) - Braniff Centre - Love Fld.


With the Sales Manager and other team members you will make an important contribution to the Business Development and Sales success of Baggage Handling System projects across North America. From early concept designs to binding proposals you will be responsible for identifying customer needs and translate them in the winning technical and commercial solution, balance between advanced technology and competitive price. During the Sales process you will be the key person for all the technical aspects engaging with internal team members, partners, and customers.


Your main responsibilities are:

  • Work with Sales Manager from the first contact with the customers through the entire sales lifecycle. Contribute to the definition of the sales strategy.
  • Present to Customers and Partners Leonardo technologies, systems, and value proposition.
  • Choose the best technical and competitive solution, implementing Leonardo product and third-party technologies in the system design.
  • Provide design guidelines (MFD’s, High Level Concepts) to Application Engineers for complete and integrated Baggage Handling System solutions.
  • Lead the Bid Team composed by Proposal Engineers. Support them in the requirements analysis, share of work definition, system design, cost estimation, project schedule, and review meetings with customers and partners.
  • Identify together with the Sales Manager and Procurement Manager the suppliers to involve on every proposal. Prepare the request for quotation (RfQ). Analyze suppliers offers.
  • Lead cost estimation reviews with internal stakeholders and suppliers. Evaluate risks.
  • Identify with the Sales Manager the target cost of each proposal. .
  • Coordinates the preparation of all technical documents required by the tender, preparing also a detailed compliance matrix.
  • Be key person during handover to Project Execution.


What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Degree in Engineering (specialization in Automation, Robotics, Logistics, Production).
  • Senior: 5-10 years of previous experience in the industrial field on installation in Baggage Handling Systems for Airports or equivalent conveyor-based industries (i.e. manufacturing, automotive, …).
  • Proficiency with MS Office, knowledge of CAD 3D / Revit.
  • Good listener and communicator, creative and driven to win.
  • Pro-active. Adaptable to evolving technologies and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team. Able to work with cross-functional and multicultural teams to achieve goals and timelines.


Language skills:

  • Italian language skills are a plus.


Others:

  • Driver’s license
  • Availability to travel up to 20% of the time per year across the US, with some International travels for training at Automation HQ (Genova, IT).
  • Must be able to work in U.S.
  • Availability to work Hybrid (from home and in office at the Braniff Centre in Dallas – Love Fld)
