Job Description Summary GE Aerospace Southampton is a facility focused on aircraft health monitoring systems and data analysis. With approximately 70 staff, teams at Southampton develop, deliver and support systems for installation into aircraft as well as cloud and windows based systems to manage and analyse aircraft data in a ground support environment. These leading edge systems are operational with both military and commercial customers around the globe.

As a Senior Program Staff Director you would lead a predominantly new product development site to meet its annual operational plan including responsibility for financial program execution, facility budgets and ensure adherence to business compliance requirements.

You will collaborates across functional groups to refine product strategy and manage customer relationships for the United Kingdom as well as Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) based customers served by the Connected Aircraft business unit.

In addition, owns/influences commercial business operating guidelines and has ownership/influence over budgets for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs guided by functional policy.

There is autonomy within the role to enter into/execute Commercial arrangements within policy guidelines.

High levels of Commercial judgement are necessary to achieve outcomes required. Job Description

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the site’s business team activities to sustain and grow site financial performance.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to sustain and grow the site’s Programs and Product portfolio
  • Lead the site senior leadership team
  • Accountable for the site’s regulatory compliance
  • Accountable for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, and contribute to the wider business strategy.
  • Developing commercial expertise across countries, product lines, markets, sales processes, or customer groups. Influences policy and ensures delivery across large and/or diverse sales territories.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.
  • Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex projects, product lines, markets, sales processes, or customers. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Typically a Commercial Manager with senior professional direct reports. Has ability to attract and retain talent. Often manages medium to large teams, including multi site projects. Leads functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to act and negotiates with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires significant experience in the Product Management.
  • Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs & projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Strong familiarity with contract management.
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills to find creative solutions in a matrix organisation to address complex projects

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Relevant experience in aviation/aerospace sector or similar highly regulated business sector
  • Good working knowledge of Lean methodology and principles
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
