Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manager, Spacecraft Operations. This position is responsible for management and leadership of multiple technical teams in support of spacecraft operations, monitoring, and system integration. Responsible for system hardware and software configurations and providing technical guidance to our customers.

Job duties will include oversight of day-to-day tasking in support of fielded systems' maintenance, operations, and integration; the successful performance and timely completion of contracted tasks and engineering projects as assigned; providing status briefings to the Program and Customer leadership; executing timely problem identification and resolution with the ability to multi-task in a time critical operational environment; directing and supervising system analysis and design reviews, and configuration management; providing direction on activities in accordance with organizational goals; motivating team members and facilitating team meetings; building relationships with customers and staff. Functional management responsibilities such as conducting performance reviews, merit reviews, all phases of the staffing process, performance evaluations, mentoring, coaching, and employee development.

This role is responsible for overall success of ongoing satellite operations missions, including flight and mission safety. Analyses and forecasts division or group resource needs for satellite operations. Ensures that properly trained, certified resources are available. Interface with external agencies to negotiate usage of ground-based assets across multiple satellite missions. Work with business development to investigate mission and mission operations opportunities.

Candidate will be required to work occasional off-shift hours as operational needs dictate. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience; 7 years with a Master's degree. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Leadership and management experience supporting satellite operations.
  • Strong understanding of satellite systems operations/functions and associated internal and external system interfaces.
  • Active TS/SCI access security clearance
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills working with senior program customers as well as military customers
  • The ability to support activities on a military installation in a 24/7 operational environment is a must.
  • Excellent decision-making capability, people management skills, and be capable of interfacing with all levels of functional and program management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering/physical science or closely related field and 5+ years' experience in supervisory management
  • Direct recent experience in SBIRS operations at fielded customer sites
  • System Integration experience
  • Experience with managing Projects, meeting deadlines and changing requirements.
  • Familiar with ground communication systems from the architectural level to the field implementation level

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
