Dann ist Ihr Platz bei uns!Für unser Institut Kommunikation und Navigation, Abteilung Optische Satellitenlinks in Oberpfaffenhofen suchen wir eine/n
Master student in (engineering) physics, electrical engineering or similar (w/m/d)
Analysis of telescope designs for Optical Ground Stations in satellite-based Quantum Key Distribution Das erwartet Sie: The Quantum Communication Systems (QCS) group at the Institute of Communications and Navigation is concentrating on enabling satellite-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). The group is therefore working on ensuring information theoretically secure communication of the future. To distribute a quantum key, existing optical fiber networks can be used for short distances. However, due to the exponential transmission loss of optical fibers long distances cannot be covered by using them. To cover long distances, a satellite can be used as a node for the quantum key generation together with Optical Ground Stations. The Optical Ground Station need to be further developed to realize a feasible quantum network in the future. One challenge is the design of a cost-effective Optical Ground Station and their implementation in a network. You will contribute in this research area by performing analysis on the telescope design for Optical Ground Stations in satellite-based QKD. Therefore, your work will address an individual research question that will contribute to the development of a holistic and cost-efficient concept of an Optical Ground Station capable of satellite-based QKD. Main activities: - Study of the given reference scenario - Elaboration of the requirements on the telescope design for satellite-based QKD - Literature research on different options (Cassegrain, refractor, Fresnel lenses, …) - Analysis on the impact on polarization - Impact on Quantum Bit Error Rate Das erwarten wir von Ihnen:
Dauer: 6 months
Beschäftigungsgrad: Vollzeit (Teilzeit möglich) Vergütung: Je nach Qualifikation und Aufgabenübertragung bis Entgeltgruppe 05 TVöD. Kennziffer: 90584
