Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Job Title: Battery Module Mechanical Engineer

Worksite: 190 W. Tasman Drive, San Jose, CA 95134

What You'll Do

  • Design mechanical components of the energy and power dense ESS

powering Archer's FAA type certified eVTOL airtaxi.

  • Develop designs meeting required mechanical, electrical, and thermal

specifications unique to a lithium-ion battery system.

  • Utilize lightweight materials and clever packaging solutions to reduce

weight.

  • Perform hand calculations of designs followed by optimization in FEA

software packages.

  • Build and test designs to ensure first articles meet functional

requirements.

  • Work with the test and integration teams to ensure performance

requirements are met at both the bench and aircraft levels.

  • Participate in design reviews to ensure cross functional alignment and

solicit feedback.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or

Electrical Engineering and experience as a Sr. Battery Mechanical Engineer

or any job title or occupation in which 2 years of experience in high voltage

battery design and integration was gained.

ALTERNATE EDUCATION: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or

Electrical Engineering and 1 year of experience in high voltage battery

design and integration.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have coursework in Electrochemistry, Energy

Storage Systems Engineering, Composite Structures with the Master's degree.

For this position we are offering $216,300.00 to $225,000.00 per year.
