Sales Manager, Hong Kong

Reports To

Country Manager HKG

Role Purpose

Primarily to support the Country Manager Hong Kong and Regional Manager Greater China / HKG in delivering sales, planning and implementation of sales initiatives, marketing plans and sales analytics. The role involves meeting the sales revenue targets in line with Corporate Revenue Targets and to help building / enhancing Malaysia Airlines brand in the local market. It also ensuring effective customer centric, conformation of company’s Standards & Procedures and smooth handling of all sales matters on the day to day running of Hong Kong Sales office.

Key Accountability
  • Achieve revenue sales target set for all sales distribution channels :
  • Establish and maintain close business relationship with business partners to gain support for revenue generation. (Sales territory: Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen)
  • Market trends and competitors activities monitoring for timely report to Country Manager/Regional Manager & HQ with recommendation of proactive or reactive action plans to protect and maximize MH market share
  • Source new channels and methods to improve sales.
  • Corporate Accounts & MH portals account acquisition and sales revenue generation:
    • Corporate Accounts – MHbiz PRO & MHbiz PLUS
    • Student Portal – MHexplorer
    • Group Portal – MH Group
  • Marketing Support:
    • Support the Country Manager in local marketing initiatives planning and execution.
    • Local sales and marketing collaterals/e-DMs preparation and distribution
    • Initiate discussions with Tourism Boards, trade partners and external companies for marketing collaboration opportunities
    • Support HQ Digital and Marketing team in copywriting, local language translation, marketing material proof reading and ensure content on MH website HKG local pages are correctly translated and in compliance to local regulation requirement.
  • Represent the company in promotion of MH branding, products & services in the market:
    • Corporate presentations to travel agents, corporate clients, and external audience.
    • Represent the company in MH sponsored events, roadshows and trade functions invited by business partners
    • Attend trade events and exhibitions to build contacts and networking for promoting the MH brand & its products and services.
  • Sales Planning, Analytics and Reports:
    • Work closely with Country/Reginal Manager for sales initiatives and agency incentive schemes planning
    • Assist Country/Regional Manager for POS & Regional sales tracking reports, market share reports and agency performance reports     
  • Leading & Coaching the sales team in:
    • Business discussions with travel agents on incentive schemes; MICE & incentive groups pitching
    • Sales & negotiation skills to win corporate accounts sign up
Qualification & Experience
  • Degree Holder in Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or related disciplines
  • Years of Experience : At least 5 - 6 years of sales & marketing experience, preferably in the airlines, travel agents or related industry
Areas of Experience :
  • Knowledge of airline/travel industry with experience in Sales, Marketing, Reservations & Ticketing
  • Good contact of travel agents, OTAs, corporate customer base, tourism & trade organisations
  • Excellent communication skills in written & spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
  • Good in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
