Avionics Fleet Specialist

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, the Avionics Fleet Specialist is responsible with communication with all airframe OEMs and vendors to keep up to date with ongoing or emerging technical issues which relate to aircraft avionics systems including In-Flight Entertainment (IFE).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Liaise with De Havilland, Embraer, Viasat as well as other OEM’s when technical issues arise
  • Assist Line Maintenance with technical queries and provide technical support
  • Aid both component shop and structures shop with technical, procedural or tooling queries
  • Monitor fleet and individual aircraft for recurring problems and identify root cause and plan corrective actions
  • Track and assess airworthiness directives, service bulletins, modifications and service letters
  • Assist maintenance planning and technical records with task effectivity, hangar, tooling requirement and major planning considerations for both line and heavy maintenance
  • Assist with lessor technical queries
  • Assist stores with part disposition with regards to reparability or scrapping and monitor parts removed for troubleshooting status
  • Assist purchasing and warranty with PN effectivity, technical queries and sourcing of tooling and equipment when necessary
  • Work with Production to develop in-house Engineering Orders to help reliability
  • Participate with OEM and vendor working groups to ensure product improvement and bring Porter concerns to them for action
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education
  • Minimum 5 years of technical operations experience
  • Transport Canada and/or equivalent AME - E license preferred.
  • DHC-8-Q400 and/or Embraer E1 or E2 endorsements an asset
  • Experience with IFE systems such as Viasat or Panasonic/Thales considered an asset.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel an asset
  • Well organized, detail oriented and able to work autonomously
  • Proven self-starter with good time management skills and able to multitask
  • Able to obtain airside security clearance
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Knowledge of RAAS (Remote Access Aviation System) and AMOS considered an asset
