We're looking for a highly skilled, .NET / Azure specialist to step into a Technical Lead role, helping building software across our enterprise - including our microservice architecture, inflight retail systems or supporting our Digital stack.


You will be responsible to deliver highly effective solutions for Virgin Atlantic. While this isn't strictly a 'hands on' role, you will be expected to have expert, demonstratable, knowledge of the .NET framework and Azure platform. The ideal candidate would have had extensive, senior-level, experience working as a .NET developer in previous roles, with a consistent track record of delivering solutions at scale.


We're a flat structured businesses - so you will be working with our development partners, enterprise architecture teams, as well as representing the team directly to senior management and other departments. Good personal communication and personable skills are essential to your success.


Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as our Azure Technical Lead will be:


Technical Leadership

  • Coach and mentor developers around you - working with your peers to extend and upskill technical knowledge in the team.
  • Set direction and vision for our development partners, unblock impediments and clear risk before they materialise.
  • Work with your peers to design innovative, highly performant, technical solutions to meet our business requirements - utilising the best technology to meet requirements.
  • Document and present technical solutions to the wider Digital Team and seek agreement.
  • Lead by example, by taking the lead on major project work. Including crafting prototypes for new Digital capability and helping the development team adopt the solution and mature it for production.
  • Ensure PRs and code reviews are completed and ensure quality is driven into the code base.


Development

  • As a hands-on role, you will be contributing to the day-to-day activities, by conducting detailed code-reviews that meet the highest industry standards and practices.
  • Develop prototypes and POC software for new solutions.
  • Work with developers daily to resolve blockers, through pair programming, for example.

We are looking for the following desirable experience:

  • Shipping products using agile and lean methodologies such as Scrum and/or Continuous Delivery.
  • Working in a matrix style organisation where direction can come from multiple senior partners.
  • .NET and C#.
  • Distributed microservices architecture.
  • Leading multi-functional teams.
  • Developing Cloud-First (Azure) solutions
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming and MVC paradigm.
