Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight. NASA’s Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Development (CLD) Program serves a vital role in developing LEO) and Cis-lunar capabilities and economies. This role will provide Systems Engineering & Integration (SEI) capabilities to NASA/Johnson Space Center in support of the Commercial LEO Development Program Office. In this role you will serve as a systems engineer leading certification and insight and oversight activities for commercially developed systems.
This is a full-time position located at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX. This role is hybrid requiring 3-4 days onsite (in Houston at JSC), 1-2 days telework.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the development of SE&I processes and products
- Manage the Artemis EVA insight team and Commercial LEO Development requirements, including inputs and traceability
- Develop Certification Strategy for Comm LEO Systems leveraging NASA SOMD 10001 Certification Plan
- Develop Insight and oversight plan and maintain documentation
- Define the basic criteria for life cycle reviews and certification baselines for technical milestone reviews
- Incorporate Risk Based Analysis process and coordinate/own related risks
- SEI that can focus on cert and use the RBA and safety systems accordingly
- Work with the CLD Stakeholder community and serve on space safety reviews
What You Need To Be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Project Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or another related STEM discipline
- At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle and system engineering processes
- Knowledge and understanding of systems engineering, including requirements, interfaces, verifications, and integrated performance for spaceflight hardware
- Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels
- Ability to work in various SEI functions in a quick-paced, small core team that leads technical discussions across a large community
- Willing to travel internationally and domestically approx. 10%
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Same requirements as a Project Engineer noted above, in addition to:
- Experience leading or organizing technical efforts or project teams
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Project Engineer or Project Leader
- Advanced Science degree in engineering, science, or other related STEM discipline
- More than 6 years of increasingly professional engineering/scientific experience
- Awareness of NASA HSF systems and current technology
- Experience performing or leading technical and programmatic tasks for NASA
- Exposure working with NASA and NASA Commercial Providers
- Current and active security clearance
