Overview:
In this role the Senior Lead Engineer will support engineering activities in Engineering Product development Team engaged in Certification Design and liaison with Test engineers with strong product development knowledge and exposure in Aircraft Advance Structures Design.
Position: Senior Lead Engineer (P3) - Mechanical Design
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create 3D models using requirement inputs, working closely with stakeholders.
- Create 2D drawings of test models to be used for manufacturing; moderate skill level required.
- Experience using CATIA for 3D/2D design activities. Write and/or check build assembly planning.
- Proficiency on design requirements, modelling the structure within design space.
- Maintain configuration management of parts within assigned test designs.
- Basic understanding of Advanced structures materials: metallics, composites, seals, blankets
- Ensure detailed understanding of design requirements, parts representation, and manufacturability of each assigned design project.
- Directly support Test lab staff, including engineers and technicians, throughout the build process
- Work closely with the associated project engineer to fulfill test requirements.
- Adaptable in fast paced environments and to potentially shifting priorities.
- Able to articulate to stakeholders in presentations such as design reviews.
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional team when complex problems arise.
- Skillful in driving Technical Design reviews with customers / counter parts & Able to articulate to stakeholders in presentations.
- Should take ownership on complete design & work Independently as well as provide technical help to peers.
- Previous test experience
- Previous production design experience.
- Ability to assess an issue from perspectives of the other stakeholders.
- Strong Experience with CATIA V5, MS Office Tools,
- knowledge of Teamcenter (PLM Software).
- Knowledge on Aerospace structures design, ASME, materials, manufacturing requirements & processes and heat treatment processes.
- Strong decision making, liaison with stakeholders and very good communications skills.
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering.
- Sound knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Desired Experience: 8 to 12 years.
