About the role

An internal appointment has meant that we have an awesome opportunity for an experienced internal audit leader to Join the Air New Zealand's Internal Audit Function. As second in charge to the Internal Audit Lead, you will be a key member of the team providing leadership and coaching. You will be quickly learning a wide range of business practices, processes, and systems, engaging widely across the business, and ultimately identifying and recommending best practice processes without increasing process cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the leadership of the Group Internal Audit team by providing day-to-day supervision, coaching, and advice to ensure development and maintenance of a high-performance environment and compliance with business requirements, regulations, and standards.
• Assist the Internal Audit Lead in developing and overseeing the delivery of the Internal Audit plan across the Air NZ Group ensuring timely completion in accordance with stakeholder needs and GIA processes.
• Develop and formulate the audit approach and scope for each part of the business, to ensure a risk-based focus.
• Provide insights to the business through value adding recommendations to ensure improvements to internal control environment and simplification where possible.
• Assess and advise management on the integrity of the business processes and financial results and provide recommendations on capability (people), processes and systems to ensure best practice is followed and business goals and be achieved.
• Build and maintain relationships within the business to ensure business requirements are understood and facilitate the objectives of the company.
• Ensure professional relationships within Air New Zealand and across the industry are developed, used, and maintained to ensure benchmarking of internal processes and identification of process improvements.
• Support the Internal Audit Lead in preparation for Audit Committee reporting and deliverables, to ensure that high quality standards are maintained and that all deliverables, are completed on time.
• Actively ensure the safety and security of all people, assets, systems and procedures under own control or influences to ensure compliance with safe operating practices, company policy and all regulations.

You will have to have at least 10 years' experience in a business advisory, external or internal audit role with formal/ financial/accounting/auditing projects and proven experience in delivering value to your organisation and clients.

Your leadership style and skills will set you apart and enable you partner with the business to rapidly gain credibility with senior management, stakeholders and within the internal audit team. Your report writing will be clear and impactful. Your knowledge of business and system audit approaches and methodology extensive. Experience in complex environments and with Enterprise Agile will make you the ideal person for this demanding role.
