Role Introduction

Reports To: General Manager Corporate Affairs

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and drive the overall strategy, governance, performance, and reporting of Cathay’s corporate responsibilities, with a specific focus on youth development and community engagement. The ultimate objective is to enhance the reputation and trust of the Cathay Group.

As the champion and primary spokesperson for these areas, the job holder will be responsible for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders, advocating for corporate social responsibilities, and fostering community relationships. Additionally, the job holder will formulate and execute strategies to maintain and strengthen Cathay's partnerships with various charity and non-governmental organizations based at the Headquarters. Furthermore, the job holder will collaborate closely with the CSR and PR teams based in the Chinese Mainland and overseas offices to effectively manage and execute initiatives that are relevant to the local communities. This collaboration aims to ensure cohesive and impactful engagement with community stakeholders, aligning with Cathay’s commitment to corporate social responsibility in the relevant markets. By fostering strong coordination among teams, the job holder will contribute to the successful implementation of community-focused initiatives across different regions, strengthening the Group’s positive impact and reputation worldwide.

By effectively managing corporate responsibilities and engaging with stakeholders, the job holder will play a crucial role in increasing the reputation and trust of the Cathay Group in alignment with the organization's vision of becoming one of the world’s greatest service brands

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for formulating the overall strategy and plan on community engagement that aligns with the Company’s vision and strategy and develop and manage initiatives that promote sustainable business practice specifically on youth development and corporate social responsibility areas.
  • Responsible for the regular review and revision of flagship community engagement initiatives, including but not limited to I Can Fly, Change For Good, Cathay City Tours, Strive & Rise. Oversees the execution of such flagship community engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure Company’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards related to corporate social responsibility.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure CSR efforts are integrated into all aspects of the Company’s operations.
  • Evaluate and measure the positive impact of CSR initiatives and report regularly to senior leadership team.
  • Develop and manage the CSR budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve maximum impact.
  • Act as Company’s spokesperson to engage and reinforce relationships with local NGOs, academia, think tank, government officials, especially in the aspect of corporate social responsibilities and youth development.
  • Represent Cathay Pacific on investors and suppliers and media meeting related specifically on corporate social responsibility issues.
  • Lead and develop the CSR & Public Engagement Team to ensure the team collaborates and operates efficiency and effectively to achieve team goals.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 year of relevant experience in aviation, NGOs, community engagement, or corporate affairs
  • At least 5 years should be at managerial or leadership capacity to manage direct reports
  • A university degree in sustainable development, aviation, social service, business administration or other related disciplines
  • Strong understanding and sensitivity towards public sentiment in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and global corporate social responsibility topics
  • A strategic thinker and good planner, with deep understanding of change management, communications, and reputation management
  • Ability to engage at the C-Suite level, and to facilitate and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent written English and Chinese
