Position Summary:

The Program Manager will be primarily responsible for providing diverse planning, development, project management, writing and execution of communications campaigns and materials, to support the advancement of organizational strategy, reputation, and core narratives. They will provide senior-level counsel and advice and improve reputational awareness. They are a highly strategic, self-starter with strong skills and experience in written and oral communication, marketing, and relationship management.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Write and execute comprehensive communication plans to support corporate communication initiatives and campaigns
  • Assist the Marketing team in the conceptual development of videos, infographics, and other imagery for communications campaigns
  • Develop and produce creative communications materials and tools for all programs and campaigns, including copywriting, building activations and experiences, and digital content
  • Use strong promotional and informative writing skills to draft, build, edit, and deploy communication material, applying diverse channels to reach target audiences and meet campaign objectives
  • Support promotional partners, agencies, vendors, and service providers as needed by developing collaborative relationships to drive greater alignment in messaging across campaigns
  • Actively partner with key stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of communications campaigns, partner rollouts, and other sophisticated communications projects such as the annual report
  • Project leads all campaigns from beginning to end suggest improvements and streamlining campaign management processes to ensure target objectives and KPIs are met
  • Facilitate communication about all campaigns to internal partners in a timely and accurate manner
  • Develop and implement digital and traditional marketing campaigns including SEO development and working with developers and designers
  • Develop KPIs and metrics in partnership with the digital team to measure the success of campaigns
  • Interpret the organizational strategy to define campaign objectives, goals and identify the mix of deliverables
  • Act as a critical communications advisor to key stakeholders, leading to the successful execution of coordinated communications strategies, including providing advice and counsel to key stakeholders relating to their communication needs
  • Develop KPIs and metrics in partnership with the digital team to measure the success of campaigns
  • Communications development for all internal channels, including but not limited to intranet, digital screens, Viva Engage, print and digital channels
  • Seek out product knowledge and ensure campaign copy and messaging aligns with organizational strategy, brand, and core narratives
  • Maintain an effective, multi-channel communications and marketing calendar
  • Report on and explain campaign results and ROI regularly


The salary for this non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing or Public Relations/Communications or Related Field
  • 7 years of professional work experience in communications
  • 3 years of professional work experience in marketing
  • Proven project management experience, PMP certification would be an asset
  • Experience developing and implementing critical communications and marketing plans, as well as large-scale campaign communications initiatives
  • Excellent copywriting and communication skills with a creative flair, and the ability to thrive in a face paced environment, supporting tight initiatives
  • Experience with employee digital channels
  • Solid experience and understanding of HR programs and services
  • Must have a Valid Ontario driver’s license G class
  • Able to acquire and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Creative problem-solver who can craft new processes and is comfortable with updating and changing processes to improve outcomes
  • Able to write effectively on a wide array of subjects, in a wide variety of writing styles, for a wide variety of media and audience types, especially internal audiences
  • Possess creative marketing, copywriting and editing skills, including outstanding skills in English grammar and spelling; and the ability to edit and proofread
  • Proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate and mitigate risks and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall
  • Experience with the creation of strategic communications plans as well as expertise related to the planning and implementation of integrated marketing and communication projects is important
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to develop highly visual presentations


The GTAA is a federally regulated private sector. The Government of Canada has suspended mandatory vaccination requirement for federally regulated transportation sector workers. The GTAA continues to monitor government and health developments relating to COVID -19 and may re-introduce the Vaccination and proof of Vaccination requirements in the Policy at any time.
