As a natural leader you will act as the figurehead for Virgin Atlantic Cargo in the Americas and broader region. Leading both sales and operations teams, you will ensure commercial targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and operational excellence.


An active member of Virgin's Americas management team, you will promote positive relationships with our customers, key suppliers and expanded JV colleagues.


Day to day


  • Develop country-level sales strategy with the sales manager and head office team
  • Lead in global account planning and management, overseeing tenders for operational services partners and general sales agents.
  • Set the strategic direction for cargo operations management to ensure that flights are used to their maximum capacity.
  • Provide a point for the country management team to address supplier performance issues.
  • Drive contract renewal and RFP process when new stations are opened or existing stations benchmarked.
  • Set the safety, security and compliance agenda for the region, with responsibility or customs compliance within the region
  • Accountable for regional Business Continuity Plan, Cargo Teams Health and Safety, along with regulatory compliance.
  • Develop the team members - coach, empower, guide and coordinate personal development plans, provide career planning, and conduct quarterly performance reviews.
  • Vendor delivery of the contract to agreed SLAs- Commercial impact of operational decisions
  • Optimise revenue and collaborate with internal partners to improve available cargo capacity


About you


Do you have proven air cargo experience with previous management roles in sales, commercial planning, and/or cargo operations? Are you a leader who displays positivity and resilience, can build strategic plans, and then take our people on the journey with you? Then this could be the role for you!


Alongside the above, we're looking for the following:


  • Highly resourceful, this role requires a persuasive, strategic problem solver who can focus on results.
  • Proven track record of building positive relationships with customers and other partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The drive to go above and beyond for our customers
  • Comprehensive understanding of cargo operations, customs compliance, and aviation security requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of the global air cargo markets with proven negotiation ability and local expertise in the Americas.
  • Emotional intelligence with the ability to understand and work within different cultures/environments.
  • Excellent working knowledge of setting and monitoring budgets.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
