We are seeking a Senior Aero-Thermal Fluid Engineer to work at our Pratt and Whitney India Engineering Center (PW IEC) campus in Bengaluru, India. The successful candidate will join Aero-Thermal Fluid (ATF) team to provide production and field support for our commercial aero engine systems and components. The senior engineer is expected to perform heat transfer, fluid flow, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and optimization analyses for various systems and components of gas turbines which includes compressor and turbine rotor/static structures. The candidate is expected to communicate technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, and customers. The candidate will need to effectively work with the Aero-Thermal Fluid (ATF) leadership team to define and execute technology plans, establish knowledge system management, and design system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Compressor and Turbine aero thermal systems analysis which includes heat transfer, internal flow, and clearance analyses.
  • Develop and analyze CFD models (2D and 3D) to support thermal and internal flow design/analysis.
  • Develop and analyze optimization CFD workflows and support design improvements.
  • Lead system level coordination of requirements and interfacing with other discipline groups (e.g., Engine Performance, Ventilation, Controls, Module Design), component/system owners, suppliers, and customers.
  • Prepare engine validation test plans, review engine and test rig data, and summarize results in test reports.
  • Provide technical leadership in performing heat transfer and internal flow analysis using conventional tools (1D network flow and 2D/3D FE thermal models) and 2D/3D CFD models.
  • Lead closure of key technical issues.
  • Guide and mentor other engineers to improve technical proficiency.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Good experience in gas turbine internal flow and thermal from design, modelling, and analysis perspective.
  • Experience in heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience in CFD tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and trending skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working across functions, organizations, and all levels of management.
  • Focus on results and the ability to drive tasks to completion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in technical leadership role

Education

  • M.S/M.Tech/M.E degree in Mechanical/Thermal/Aerospace Engineering with minimum 6 years’ of industry experience in gas turbine heat transfer and/or internal flow engineering.
