Sustainable Aviation Fuel Procurement Manager – Mandated Markets

Role Introduction

Reports to: Sustainable Aviation Fuel Procurement Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the definition and implementation of the sourcing strategy for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in mandated markets such as the EU, the UK and Japan.
• Conduct market analysis and identifies trends that may have an impact on the future supply of SAF in those mandated markets.
• Lead the supplier engagement process, identifies opportunities for the supply of SAF and coordinates with various internal teams and external stakeholders to complete due diligence.
• Conduct negotiations with producers, suppliers, resellers and other stakeholder groups in mandated SAF markets with a strong focus on assurance of supply and mitigation of long-term commercial and operational risks.
• Facilitate the establishment of joint ventures or other forms of collaboration with other industry players when considered beneficial to projects.
• Prepare and present sourcing updates to senior management.
  
  

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in SAF Procurement
• Comprehensive knowledge of the market at SAF mandated airports and the evolving landscape in those markets
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in mandated markets and basic contract law
• Experience in physical trading is a plus and basic understanding of hedging practices is preferred
• Proven ability to navigate complex market dynamics and capitalize on emerging opportunities
• Entrepreneurial mindset, strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills with a ‘hands-on’ mentality
• Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices
• Excellent people skills; ability to inspire, build trust and influence internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to build a strong network and secure Cathay’s position in the SAF supply market
• Demonstrate ability to define and implement strategies
• Analytical and presentation skills
• Approachable and decisive
• Frequent international travel required
• Fluent in English (must) and fluent in Mandarin (preferred)
