Managing Director- Digital Technology, Technical Operations & Safety is a critical role within DT as well as in delivering a safe and outstanding customer experience. Our United Safety, TechOps, and Maintenance organization is 14,000 employees strong, and this position is accountable for the leadership, strategy, transformation, and support of all functional and technology capabilities that support this organization.

- Corporate Safety
- Heavy Airframe Maintenance
- Line Maintenance
- Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Programs
- TechOps Safety and Compliance
- TechOps Supply Chain, Inventory, Logistics and Distribution
- Engine & Component Operations
- Ground Service Equipment and Facilities Maintenance
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic business strategy and execution- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive posture, as well as United's business strategy & goals in order to define and evolve technology strategies and roadmaps.
- Enterprise partnership and collaboration- Partner with key business and technology collaborators in the delivery of critical technology initiatives to meet our business goals.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks to the corporation from reliability, security & regulatory risks that impact the employee platforms.
- Develop, empower, and lead a high-performance team of industry experts, engineers, and leaders.
- Finds opportunities for business transformation through the application of technology and works in close collaboration with the other department leaders and across DT to understand needs, drive business value, and communicate results.
- Chicago and Houston Corporate Support Centers (monthly)
- Airline hubs and/or TechOps locations such as ORD, IAH, EWR, SFO, DEN, LAX, IAD, LAS, AMS, LHR (as needed)
- Delhi India United Airlines India Knowledge Center (1 – 2 times per year)
- Leadership meetings and industry conferences (as needed)

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree; Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or other relevant STEM field of study.
- 15+ years of relevant technology experience supporting technical operations, maintenance repair operations, safety, airport operations, network operations or crew. This should also include implementing and leading large, sophisticated platforms, programming projects and leading technology organizations.
- Must possess proven understanding of technology strategy, performance management, business consulting, and applicable technologies.
- Understanding of Technical Operation, Maintenance Repair, or Airline Operations processes.
- Expertise in large high throughput technology platforms and in the design and delivery of high-performance technology systems.
- Expertise in technology performance, monitoring, reliability, and resiliency.
- Awareness of applicable airline industry standards and regulations.
- Master's degree.
- Supply Chain technology experience.
- Subject matter authority of multiple business areas to guide a team of technical consultants and build cross-functional viewpoints on a subject matter.
- Change management and Cloud technologies experience.
