Senior Officer Tours & Community Programs (1 Term Opportunity - 6 months)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Community Outreach and Programs, this role designs and delivers an educational and reputation-building tour program tailored for internal and external partners. The role also supports the GTAA's neighbourhood outreach, participating in community events, educational programs and other engagement initiative that educates the public on the goals, operations and community initiatives of Toronto Pearson.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Develop links and strong lines of communications with internal and external client groups to define opportunities to use tours as education and engagement tools
  • Provide recommendations and strategies to simplify and improve processes around tours
  • Meet and monitor targets in number of groups and residents newly engaged through tour programming to ensure opportunities for continued dialogue with the GTAA
  • Develop a process, scripts and, training to build corporate capacity to deliver on tour objectives
  • Lead logistics of booking all tours including tour calendar, coordination with bussing and subject matter experts supporting the tour, and security pass process to meet Transport Canada policies and procedures
  • Plan and deliver events, including tour scripts, critical paths, checklists, timelines and assigns tasks
  • Responsible for communications, follow-up, and tour metrics
  • Align, integrate and support community engagement initiatives and best practices with other corporate activities and teams, to promote the airport in a positive business enterprise
  • Support externally focused Community Relations special events when needed


This is a unionized position with an hourly wage of $40.50, based on a 37.5 hour work week. If you are the selected candidate, you must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. As part of the recruitment process, you may be required to complete a practical assignment.

Qualifications:


  • Post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field
  • 5+ years experience in a business or corporate environment and/or combination equivalent work experience and education
  • Industry experience or industry related experience (aviation, transportation, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
  • Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

  • Superior knowledge of airport operations including equipment, challenges and processes
  • Project management and planning, as well as trends in tours management across airports
  • Proven problem solving and time-managements skills for planning tours
  • Knowledge and execution of community engagement concepts and strategies
  • Superior listening and persuasion skills
  • Excellent public speaking and narration skills
  • Confident, friendly, compassionate, articulate with the ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex concepts and ideas
  • Address and promote corporate positions and information, such as public/community meetings, workshops, advisory groups
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences, using a number of channels, and share technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Experience in dealing directly with the public in customer service role
  • Interacting with varied communities, community groups, public complaint processes, community engagement programming
  • Ability to work occasional Saturdays
