Job Purpose

The Quality Engineering Lead will be the champion of quality for our Inflight Retail programme, being the glue between multiple component teams within and outside the easyJet estate to ensure a high quality solution is delivered to our Airline customers and will be expected to.

  • Be confident in interacting with stakeholders across all levels of the business and IT
  • Be able to communicate well on both a business and technical level


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Responsible for leading End to End test activities that span across multiple teams, coordinating all testing practices and bringing them together to produce a centralised view for the project stakeholders and the wider business
  • Effectively driving the Quality for Inflight Retail programme
  • Provide overall quality assurance oversight against all testing completed on project e.g. from development through to release (all phases all suppliers)
  • Ownership of the overarching test strategy, test plan for their project, including all phases, entry and exit criteria, KPIs, tools, reporting, governance etc. Helping to bring consistency and continuity in ways of testing
  • Responsible for reporting on agreed quality KPI’s within project, providing consistency across all of the portfolio
  • Responsible for allocating and tracking progress of prioritised tasks within the test teams
  • Responsible for ensuring testing are involved at the start of each release
  • Provide clear communication of test status, issues & risks and escalate appropriately
  • Establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the teams
  • Champion quality practices across project teams and continually look for opportunities to improve the way in which the teams work
  • Work with offshore, nearshore and onshore testers to build effective project test teams
  • Maintain an overview of the testing and quality approaches that are in place for Inflight retail programme


Skills & Experience

  • Experience of working in both an agile IT development model and a more traditional model, ensuring quality is embedded as early as possible (continuous improvement)
  • Broad experience with multiple technologies and platforms within high volume B2C and B2B environments
  • Knowledge of all the different facets of test coverage, including unit testing, functional, usability, accessibility, performance, capacity, security, integration testing, resilience, compatibility etc.
  • Experience of managing and reporting on test progress across multiple projects including the management of any issues and risks
  • Organise and execute key reviews to meet a fast-paced timetable
  • Continuous monitoring & improvement of all supported processes, including proactively identifying opportunities for improving the overall quality
  • Experience of working across multiple delivery teams (internal and external) with complex integrations
  • Experience of collating test governance metrics and using this data to drive subsequent improvements to the test processes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills demonstrating business engagement up to senior management levels
  • Excellent supplier management skills
  • Experience in managing a team of quality engineers offshore/ nearshore/ onshore
  • Experience in creating and leading testing teams with a track record of motivating and inspiring them
  • Technical knowledge and experience of the following technologies/ frameworks: -
  • Atlassian product set including JIRA and Confluence
  • Hardware and mobile testing
  • SQL
  • Postman for API testing
  • Power BI reports testing


This role may require occasional travel within the UK & Europe
