BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Graduate Programme you will be required to attend your site 3 per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

Salary £34,000 & £2,000 Welcome Bonus

The IT Security function within Enterprise IT Services (EITS) is part of our Shared Services business and is a fast-paced growing team that works closely with all parts of our business as well as governments, industry bodies and regulators to ensure our systems and information are protected, and we are compliant with the highest standards. This allows us to continue delivering on our commitments for our customers. Our team are responsible for delivering operational IT Cyber Security services across the Company in the UK and in some international markets.

What You Will Be Doing

The role of the Data Centre of Expertise within Head Office is to enable and govern our use of data across BAE Systems, from data management and architecture to exploitation.

As a Graduate in this team you will work on a range of initiatives, engaging with colleagues across the business to create common approaches to working with data, make sure the right tools are in place to manage and exploit it, and to drive the investment in people needed to ensure we have data skills across our Sectors and Functions.

You will play a part in engaging with our stakeholders, developing best practices, and defining the right data solutions to particular problems.

You will collaborate with experienced professionals from across the global company gaining invaluable insight as to how the whole company works to satisfy its customers and deliver on its commitments.

Duties and Responsibilities

The breadth of activities below gives an indication of the wide array of activities carried out by the department.

  • Data Strategy – defining, and advocating for, the vision for greater use of data across the Company
  • Data Management – leading and coordinating activities across the business to ensure our data is secure, standardised and fit for purpose.
  • Data Architecture – setting out the patterns for how we capture and manage data so that it is ready to exploit when we need it.
  • Data Exploitation – driving more, and more sophisticated, use of our data to support our business and our customers.
  • Data Skills – improving the knowledge and skills of all our employees, so that they have greater confidence in their use of data.
  • Analytics for IM&T – supporting the creation of data products to be used to manage the Information Management and Technology Function.

Our aim will be to give you the chance to get exposed to a range of these activities, working alongside more experienced professionals to learn new skills and contribute to our work.

Skills

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or numerate subject such as Software & Systems Engineering, Data Science, Physics or Maths.

On commencement of employment you will be paid a one-off non-consolidated lump sum payment of £2,000 (the “Welcome Payment”). The Welcome Payment is subject to the normal deductions and will be paid with your first salary payment.
