Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Financial Planning and Analysis with dotted line reporting to the Vice President of Commercial (“VP”), this role’s primary function is to provide Financial Reporting, Annual Planning, Capital Management and Analytical support for the largest business unit in the organization, Airport Operations (“AO”). In addition this role will provide financial guidance and support regarding implications of critical initiatives and operational decisions. The role will be the primary liaison between the business units and all other finance functions (other department support roles, planning, reporting, decision support, capital management, risk management, procurement, and controllers group).

Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide leadership/management and coaching/mentoring to a direct report
  • Develop, lead and coordinate the Annual Plan (including Operating Plan development), 5 Year Planning and Quarterly Forecasting processes by coordinating with the primary partners ensuring alignment with Finance and other Business Divisions
  • Ensure Profit & Loss Statement accuracy and completeness in a timely manner
  • Lead the preparation of the monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Perform variance analysis on Actual versus Plan results, and providing guidance to Plan management and/or “course correction” mitigation opportunities
  • Periodic reporting and presentation of financial results to the AO Senior Management and the GTAA Executive Team
  • Develop and track Operational Metrics and Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis to ensure attainment of business unit and company goals
  • Lead all aspects of the creation of financial and business intelligence models to support the Annual Planning process and Retail Parking Operations to drive alignment with initiatives, insights and goals
  • Coordinate contractual obligations, ensuring value for money, proper financial recording (accruals) while aligning with business justifications
  • Enhance Financial and Business Intuition through collaboration and education of Operating Unit Leaders and Support Staff on financial processes, procedures, and key results
  • Support HR and HR Business Partner in Workforce planning and managing compensation expense for the group


The salary for this management non-unionized position is competitive based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce
  • Professional accounting designation and other relevant designation (e.g. CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, CFA) is preferred
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in financial reporting for publically accountable enterprises, internal controls over financial reporting and other accounting related tasks
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in People Management
  • Industry experience or industry related experience (aviation, transportation, etc.) will be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
  • Able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial materials in a logical and organized manner to various levels of Management

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong technical skills and in depth knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent and practical knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and internal controls over financial reporting framework
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Oracle ERP system and Adaptive Insights or other planning software are considered an asset


The GTAA is a federally regulated private sector. The Government of Canada has suspended mandatory vaccination requirement for federally regulated transportation sector workers. The GTAA continues to monitor government and health developments relating to COVID -19 and may re-introduce the Vaccination and proof of Vaccination requirements in the Policy at any time.
