The Cargo Support Manager is a key operational management position within Swissport UK and Ireland reporting to the General Station Manager and will be responsible for Swissport Operations at station level. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational excellence of the station. To lead, plan and manage all operational activities associated with cargo service handling in line with our procedures, policies and brand values. To lead the team of Duty Mangers, Customer Operations Managers, Clerical and Industrial staff within the operation, to provide and maintain a high-level quality service by planning and organizing the accurate and complete movement of cargo and mail in accordance with Customer Service Level Agreements, (SLAs), and current legislation. Also, to make sure that Health and Safety, Quality, Security and Swissport Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs), are always adhered to. Control of Clerical and Industrial staffing levels in accordance with financial and budgetary targets.

Responsibilities

Health and Safety

  • Management of Health & Safety procedures & requirements on a shift basis
  • Complete daily H & S / Security walk through of the Industrial Operation, ensuring all damage to equipment and/or building is reported and actioned.

Staff Management

  • Managing and directing a team of Cargo Duty Managers – ensuring manning levels are adequate for operational needs and costs, and that overtime and sickness absence are kept to a minimum, and overall are within budgetary directives and constraints.
  • Ensure up-line management are updated of any special requests, any staff / processing recommendations, and irregularities through day-to-day communication and the completion of handover logs.
  • Ensure absence/sickness is robustly managed in line with company procedures and acceptable levels.

Security

  • Management of Security procedures & requirements on a shift basis.

Quality

  • Management of Quality procedures & requirements on a shift basis
  • Manage inventory of all essential consumables, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Management of Company / Airline procedures and requirements.in line with SLAs and KPI’s

Operations

  • Deadlines met for all export / import flights, incl. trucks.
  • Deadlines met and correct completion of import / export flight files in line with, CAA and company regulations.
  • Training of staff for local operational requirements.
  • Agreeing to work to the needs of the business, it may be required from time to time that you work additional hours, over and above your contract in order to support the demands of the operation.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Organization and management of Cargo Warehouse and Industrial staffing levels, resource and equipment, in line with both operational needs and cost targets.
  • Manage all aspects of Health and Safety and Security.
  • Develop staff through coaching / training / appraisals.
  • Shift planning to ensure all deadlines and Quality standards are met.
  • Complete stats, report on operational failures, on hand list, etc.
  • Liaise / Deal with staff on rostering issues.
  • Deal with staff disciplinary procedures.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation, liaising with Airlines, Agents and Customers.
  • Attend and hold monthly Airline customer review meetings.
  • Manage Security / Quality / Company / Airline procedures & requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of all aspects of the Industrial Operation
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Operational Procedures.
  • The ability to work on own initiative, often under pressure.
  • Good Understanding of the Cargo systems such as of: Cargo spot/UC360/NCTS
